Wilfrid's Reviews
Excellent food and service. The dishes are creative and ambitious yet so delicious. The artistry and skill at work at Akira Back is evident with every bite. Great date spot before a show at the NAC.
Hear ye, hear ye. This eve, the halls of Château Laurier welcomed our company not as mere guests, but as honored lords and ladies of the realm. From the first pour of Niagara's finest sparkling rosé to the final bite, our table overflowed with treasures from both land and sea: crisp cucumber salad, legendary rock shrimp, wagyu tacos, grilled cod, an exceptional protein specialty sushi roll, sizzling filet mignon, and decadent wagyu fried rice. If you crave Japanese this place is fabulous. We have a love of this type of dining so we couldn't resist the chance to splurge for our anniversary. The staff are friendly and offer suggestions and personal preferences for those who wish some guidance. The Saki choices are varied and come with descriptions for those adventurous hearts.
Wilfrid's offers a buffet with a mix of reviews. The overall quality is high, though some items may not meet everyone's standards. The atmosphere at the Chateau is impressive with a spectacular view, making it a great choice for special occasions. Despite some disappointments with the breakfast buffet, the restaurant has everything to succeed, with delicious food options for everyone and a dedicated staff. The service can sometimes be slow, but staff members like Martin are attentive and informative, contributing to a positive experience. The modernly elegant room features cream with greens & blues accents and comfortable plush seating, creating a civilized atmosphere. The buffet breakfast offers a variety of tasty items, including excellent croissants served with mascarpone and sweet fruit jams, though some found the jams overly sweet and the butter salted. Some desserts didn't taste freshly made, and flies were seen around some food and in cups, which was off-putting. Many items are unlabelled, leaving guests guessing, and there was no hand sanitizer available before entering the buffet, raising hygiene concerns. The restaurant's spectacular view and classic location make it a memorable dining spot, though some feel that the buffet could be better priced at around $40-$45. Overall, Wilfrid's provides a high-quality experience with delicious options and attentive staff, despite some areas for improvement.
