“Honestly, this place is great. Went here after a long day at work + gym and needed a nice meal for the night. My brother from Nepal (one of the servers) hooked me up with amazing service and conversation. Food was good and the prices were fair. Will be coming back!“

“Helmand Kabob Palace has been a staple for me when in the Durham region. It’s a shame I’m only now writing a review for this gem. I’m one of the first clients to visit this restaurant as a regular from when it opened and I’ve seen it grow sooo much over the years. Till this day I religiously dine in when I have their food. My personal favourite is the Choppan Dinner. There is NO PLACE in the GTA that can top his Choppan for the quality of meat vs price. They are super generous with portions of rice and salad even when I ask for less rice, I still consider the portions to be super generous so you can imagine. You can taste the love put in to marinating and perfecting the spices for the lamb chops, never missed once, I’ve been coming religiously for 7 years now and it takes me 35 mins for just one way travel. It’s that good and worth it. There is plenty dining space inside and washroom as well. I have brought many friends over the years here and now they attend without my presence needed and that’s what it’s about. Their food will speak for itself, so if you love middle eastern food and want to try authentic Afghani cuisine, you must hit up Helmand Kabob Palace!“

“I went to this new shawarma spot and as soon as I walk in you can smell how delicious it is! I ordered the dinner plate and a chicken salad. It was so flavourful! The vegetable were some of the freshest ones I've ever tasted! Adding to that the service was amazing (so kind)! 100% recomend!“

The menu offers a wide variety of grilled meats, rice platters, and traditional sides, with standout items like the Chicken Tikka Kebab, Chapli Kabab, and Lamb Shank. The portions were generous, and the meat was well-seasoned and cooked to perfection. The Mango Lassi was a refreshing complement to the meal. However, the experience was a bit inconsistent. While some staff were friendly and attentive, others seemed overwhelmed, especially during busy hours. Wait times for food can be long—even when the restaurant isn’t crowded. Huma was the best! always smiling and ready to serve customers. The ambiance is casual, leaning more toward a takeout vibe than a dine-in destination. Prices are on the higher side for the portion sizes, but the flavor and authenticity of the dishes can make it worthwhile“

“I don’t usually write reviews, but I had to share my experience at Maimana Naan & Kebab in Whitby.

I originally placed a pickup order for the Ajax location and received a confirmation email and text. However when I got there, the restaurant was closed for renovations. I get that things like this happen, but I was kind of stuck. I ended up calling the Whitby location to see if there was anything they could do, and they asked me for my order and said they could make it for me there instead.

When I went to pickup the order from Whitby, I realized the two locations aren’t even owned by the same person, which honestly made the gesture even more meaningful. They really didn’t have to honour the order, especially on a busy Friday night, but they did and I really appreciate it.

As for the food, everything was delicious. We ordered the lamb shank and lamb tikka with Qabili rice, along with salad and naan. The lamb shank was incredibly tender and fell right off the bone, and the lamb tikka was packed with flavour. The Qabili rice was a standout and paired perfectly with everything.

The restaurant itself was clean, welcoming, and had a good number of tables. It’s a really nice space, and I’d definitely dine in next time.

Overall, I was blown away by the level of service. They truly went above and beyond when they didn’t have to, and for that, they deserve every bit of support and recognition.“

“This place has excellent quality food and friendly service. I ordered the chicken breast kebab dinner. The chicken is perfectly seasoned, juicy and tasty! The naan bread is soft and fluffy. In fact, I can eat it by itself. The Greek salad is so fresh and I love the dressing. I like their Greek salad better than those at Greek restaurants. Overall, I am just happy to have a quality restaurant near my home where I can go to get quality food anytime.“
