“PROS: We had a great time at Gonzo. The menu was interesting, and the huge variety of small plates and snacks was fun to explore. The food was fresh and well-seasoned, and the happy hour drink special was great value. $7 pints of Asahi? Not going to argue with that :) The food came out very quickly, and the service was attentive and efficient. The staff was super sweet and they gave my boyfriend a free matcha mochi treat + sang him the birthday song (because i mentioned we were celebrating his birthday... I didn't ask them to do anything specifal!) CONS: They could do a better job greeting guests at the door, or at least acknowledging people who are waiting and letting them know they'll be with them as soon as they can. Also, i had a couple of questions about a special on the menu and the server's answer wasn't super helpful.“

“I’ve been here twice, and everything I’ve tried has been fantastic. The Dyno Wings, Moto Bun, Okra, Salmon Aburi, Moto Eggs, and the Katsu bun are all must-tries. Not only is the food delicious, but it also comes out quickly. I’ll definitely keep coming back.“

“This place has become my favourite Izakaya in Toronto! The food reminds me of the food I had in Japan, and the omurice is the best omurice I’ve ever had in Toronto!! Our server, Bomyi, was so attentive and friendly and made the experience so comforting and pleasant!!! She really stood out to me. I highly recommend this Izakaya to everyone - and make sure to check out their Sunday omurice special!!“

“Great atmosphere and food. Friendly staff. The grilled prawns were surprisingly amazing - more tasty than I expected. The aubergine was lovely. The corn & spider roll was also fantastic. The only left down was the chicken teriyaki - was dry and not enough flavour or sauce. Beer float was great. Overall, highly recommended“

“A great hangout on a Friday night. Comfy atmosphere and top shelf service. We ordered Nagasaki jjampong and paired it with Soju, followed by yuzu high ball. It conjured memories of Omeide yokocho in Tokyo or midtown Busan. Highly recommend it if you are in North York.“

“I had an amazing evening at Mokutan Yakitori & Oyster Izakaya. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, perfect for relaxing over good food. The staff were attentive, friendly, and clearly passionate about what they do. Each skewer we tried was cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. The oysters were fresh and a great complement to the grilled items. Overall a top-tier izakaya experience in the Toronto area — I’ll definitely be back!“

“What a vibe. I ordered on Uber Eats more than a couple times before actually coming here to eat. They deserve more stars, there skewers and mackerel are so gas, and honestly it’s such a vibe, their decorations are so cute and makes me feel like i’m in Japan. They’re also all Japanese people and super nice, 100% deserve 5 stars and more.“

“Been coming here for years. Still enjoy visiting every once in a while. Japa burger sliders are my wife’s favourite. They are a little on the sweet side though. Everything here always tastes good. The food tastes even better when paired beer or cocktails, which they have plenty of. Service here is usually prompt. Thank you“
