The food was delicious and the service was excellent despite the restaurant being busy. The seafood ‘sinfonia' was particularly noteworthy. The shrimp was a favourite, as was the grilled octopus. The outdoor patio has great character and was an ideal venue for celebrating time with family. We will return.
One of my favourite Portuguese restaurants in Toronto. Food is always spot on and the atmosphere is second to none!
Lovely family style restaurant. We were a party of 4, was given a square table for 4 people. Normally it would be fine, however we order a platter for 4 people, then we had a side dish and bread, plus drinks, so table was a bit small for us.

Customers have raved about the Jalapeno short rib beef, Sinforia, and Pavloka for dessert. The desserts are noted to be innovative and delicious. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, providing great recommendations. While the atmosphere can be lively, with events like karaoke, it may be too noisy for business dinners. Parking is limited, and seating options may not always be available. Overall, Mercado Negro is highly recommended for a great dining experience, offering amazing freshness and quality at a decent price.
