One of the greatest joys in visiting Portland for the first time is having excellent food and outstanding service; this place definitely deserves above 5 star rating and I’m grateful for the excellent service and food quality here . Connor was literally one of the best servers ever. Very professional, providing great hospitality and handsome for sure
Appetizers are good but our steaks were way overcooked and took 30 minutes to resolve issues

El Gaucho Portland offers a sophisticated ambiance with attentive service, though the dining experience can be mixed. The steaks are well-marbled but may be cooked slightly more than requested. The calamari is delicious and crispy, and the Oaxacan old fashioned is bright and spirit-forward. The escargot and oysters are fresh and perfectly prepared, while the 6oz filet is buttery and tender. The A5 wagyu is unreal—melt-in-your-mouth and packed with flavor. Scalloped potatoes are creamy and cheesy, and the table side Caesar salad might just redefine your opinion of a Caesar.
Live Spanish guitars add to the festive atmosphere, and the service is next-level, making guests feel like royalty. However, prices can be sky-high, especially at the bar. While some find better value elsewhere, El Gaucho Portland delivers classic steakhouse luxury with warmth and attention to detail.
