Grendel's is genuinely one of my favorite cafes to visit in Portland. The food and coffee are more than reasonably priced and very tasty, and more importantly the folks who work here are incredibly kind and welcoming. They actually treat you like a person while you're here, which is hard to come by with practically any business in Portland. Always wanted to check this spot out since I just moved in a few blocks up the road. Small, quiet spot with TONS of coffee options and specials for those who don’t know exactly what they want. Friendly staff who work quickly and announce loudly when your drink is ready. The music is just the right volume and you feel glad you stopped in. Grendel’s is a fast and friendly little coffee shop off E Burnside, very close to Jupiter Hotel/Eastside Lodge. Every time I stay in Portland I come and get a bagel breakfast sandwich (which is always fresh and hot) and one of their fun drink specials, or a cappuccino (which they do well!). If you’re in the area looking for a good sandwich or a drink on the go definitely stop by!
