A real gem in the university district! Having been to Hawaii and eaten authentic plate lunch I can assure you the other reviews are incorrect. The restaurant is clean and spacious. The food is prepared well, tastes excellent and is priced very reasonably for the large portions. Something hard to find in the area. Very kind and friendly staff. Food is fresh and authentic! Love having lunch here when I am in a rush in this side of downtown! Happy to see others feel the same! Support the mom and pop shops, especially in a place like Portland that is hard to survive as a small business.... keep up the good work Hawaiian Experess!
I truly love this place, the owners Paul and Teresa are some of the most lovely people to talk to who have refined their craft of making food, but more importantly, making people happy. This is a truly great restaurant.
