“By far and away, my most favorite eatery in Portland. Fried rice spam bowl is my favorite!! But their Kahlua pig and Shoyu chicken are top notch too. Friendly staff, and safe space. Mahalo Plenty.“

“My sister treated me to an outing here. Not a lot of food options but what they do have it pretty tasty! The flavor of the kalbi ribs was delicious but chewy. Rice and Mac were some of the best I have ever had. You have to try the crab Rangoon dip and Hawaiian bread (I could rave about them). It’s a great hidden tiki bar. Loved watching them throw fire all over the place. Definitely known for their exotic drinks. I had the rhuby sunset (told the gal to surprise me) and I didn’t think I liked rhubarb until I had it! Was so yummy! It’s a small place but even full it doesn’t feel crowded. Absolutely will be coming back!! Such a fun experience“

“The best Hawaiian food I've had in Portland! Their spicy tuna poke and fried chicken are excellent. They have great sauces too! The customer service is always fast and good, and the food comes out fast! The area has gotten more sketchy lately, I wish in was in a safer neighborhood, but food and service are the best in town for Hawaiian food!“

“I was looking for a place to pick up an onigiri in the morning from time to time, and this place opens at 9am which is great! Really cute shop, they have taiyaki, musubi, and a nice variety of onigiri, and it is affordable and exactly what you want. There is really nothing quite like this in the Portland area...its a little treasure. The staff are so friendly, i will be sure to recommend this place to all my passengers, friends, and family!“

- little too salty for me
- I usually don't love the fat, but the fat here was good

- wish it was slightly more spicy
Kalua pig ⭐⭐
- very salty for me, wouldn't reorder unless this was a one off mess up

- a little basic but it's the safest bet if you're new to this sort of food
- beef and chicken

“Ok can we talk about portlands cutest freaking bar?!?!?! I mean honestly every week the bar scene is changing but I absolutely loved this place. I loved how unexpectedly cute it was and how unique the menu was! I will say that the food takes a LONG time to come out so don't come here if you're hungry and wanting food “

“I purchased lunch for my team at work and every one of us couldn’t get enough. To quote one person “it’s like a flavor party in my mouth!” Is an understatement. All of the flavors were perfectly paired, and not overpowering with one or the other. I can’t wait to get more!“

“A note about safety : commercial Kava products are often made with stem peelings with contain Pipermethystine . It has been reported that heavy native drinkers of traditional Kava preparations in Oceania tend to have elevated liver enzymes. I know a lot of us rely on Kava for life outside of addiction, just be careful if you have liver damage. Theres a lot of beautiful plants out there that aren't as fetishized and commercialized that offer beautiful effects on anxiety and euphoria. When i visited this bar i enjoyed the drink they made me, however the attendant was not very knowledgeable.“

“Paid $12 for the everyday burger and was served the vegan burger instead. It was surprisingly yummy (I ate it rather than saying anything about it) but I missed my cheese. Now that that's out of the way, this is the friendliest bar I've ever been to. I was brought here by my traveling buddy who had discovered it two years ago when traveling through Portland. He's a teetotaler so when I walk into this "amazing restaurant" he sold me on, I was shocked. "Ernie, this is a bar!", I said. He didn't care. It's the happiest place he's ever been. I worked in a rainforest bar in my thirties, and this place tops them all. The staff and the patrons are all so kind and fun.“

“This restaurant, located in Hotel Vance, is a neighborhood gem. For breakfast and lunch, they offer American and Hawaiian dishes. After 5 PM, they switch to a Korean menu. I ordered the Mochi waffle with Korean spiced popcorn chicken, served with warm syrup and hot sauce. It was one of the best-tasting waffles I've had and was visually appealing. The restaurant is spacious with modern furnishings, and the service was fantastic.
I brought my husband dinner and ordered the KFC, Army soup, and kimchee pancake, which were very tasty.“

“Man it’s awesome to have a great Hawaiian cart in the area again. I especially appreciate the indo-Asian dishes like the kimchi fried rice. Those cucumbers, I’m afraid to order the large size because I think I would eat them all in one sitting. The Hawaiian fare (shoyu chicken, kalua pork, Mac salad etc) is all spot on too, or I wouldn’t be writing this. Wish it was open more hours…but good enough that we work around that.
Parking: Small lot on the actual property. Street parking in the neighborhood or ride your bike in warmer months.
Wheelchair accessibility: The cart pod has a ADA spot and is accessible“

“Ohana in the City of Roses! Street parking is a little tricky if it's busy, but the food and atmosphere make it totally worth it. Food was excellent!“

“One of the best! Extremely consistent and great tasting food. My wife and I get the Teriyaki and Spicy Teriyaki Chicken and are never disappointed. Well, maybe in ourselves for not ordering more of their Mac Salad! We've gotten the Yakasoba noodles before which never miss. Good rice and veggies too.“

“A real gem in the university district! Having been to Hawaii and eaten authentic plate lunch I can assure you the other reviews are incorrect. The restaurant is clean and spacious. The food is prepared well, tastes excellent and is priced very reasonably for the large portions. Something hard to find in the area. Another rarity is the owners take the time to get to know their customers. You can expect to be asked if you want "the usual" if you dine more than a few times. It is refreshing to see hard working small business owners still making it work.“

“I have only been to the Beaverton location and was excited to learn that there was another closer to me. I love their bowls so much. The only difference between the two spots is that Beaverton has a seared Albacore and this location doesn't. I still loved the raw tuna, but would love it if they also got the seared tuna. Friendly service!“
“Amazing catering experience. Super great Hawaiian cuisine and the delivery & set up(customer service) was exceptional. BTW, the sauces are super good! If your looking to host a party, don’t miss out on what the Local Grind has to offer.“

“My son loves this place so we gave it a try. We had the sweet garlic chicken plate, comes with rice & macaroni. Good food. Decent portions. They could probably use a few more tables as there wasn't much seating available. Most of the tables are 2 people only. I did not see any vegan options.“
