“This place was on my list for a while and it was a surprise and delight! Atmosphere was bright and airy. While the menu is small with shareable bites (my favorite kind of eatery). we still went home with full stomachs. Drinks: Life of Luxury, Acid, Drugs, Thai Tea. Food: Chopped BBQ Fried Rice with Brisket and Sweet n’ Sour Fried Chicken. Dessert: Coconut Panna Cotta. While I unfortunately have a low tolerance for heat, I powered through the friend rice because it was SO GOOD. From my partner’s perspective, it had a nice “kick”. Really loved the flavors of everything we had!“

“It seems nearly impossible to find good Chinese Food in Portland, maybe because of the PNW's historical discriminatory and Sinophobic sentiments towards the Chinese people. If we were/are hurtful to them, maybe we don't get to experience their delicious cuisine now. I think in many ways that's fair, if that is the case. Okay, so it's probably not the case that we are deprived of their best food because of the history -- I'm just pondering this as I type. I wonder if you are still reading and if you are -- you must be willing to endure this long shpiel because you would like to know about the food. And now for the review. Once in a while my sweetie and I take a risk and hope we'll find yummy Chinese or Chinese inspired food. Most of the time she gets credit for finding the food because she does the investigating. She gets credit yet again today. We headed to 28 Tigers. Love their logo. The place is on SE 28th close to Gladstone. The menu was small-ish and we tried a few dishes. The food was nuanced, flavorful, and fresh cuisine. I'm not super into earthy flavors but tried the Crispy Mushroom Dumplings anyway. In doing so I was met with a well seasoned, crunchy outside shell with warm, soft, succulent thinly sliced mushrooms inside. Wow! Just the right balance of savory, soft, and crunch. I also enjoyed the Chicken Chow Fun -- the pieces of pulled chicken coupled with the wide soft noodles and thin slices of red pepper (red bell pepper) had an umami kind of flavor -- delicious and subtle --the spice mix on this was so pleasant and good. My main dish was Hong Kong Noodles with char siu pork and perfectly cooked greens. The pork reminded me of flavored pork from Chinese American restaurants I went to as a kid -- a positive experience then and now upon consuming this dish. We also shared an egg roll which had the same tasty crunchy shell as the dumplings. The place is simple, the food is thoughtfully prepared, and the service was great. They were also very helpful in offering food choices for my sweetie who needs gluten free options. I highly recommend.“

It really is the greatest of all time. We will be back!“

“We were actually going for Sushi on Sunday when we passed this food cart corner. Since we don't eat BBQ that often (because it can be so disappointing) and Matt's had pretty good reviews, we decided to give it a try. It did not disappoint. Generous portion of the melt in your mouth chopped brisket. Ribs were tender and deliciously smoked, but our favorite was the turkey; moist, smoked, and not salty. The beans and queso mac stand out all on their own, and the portions are generous. We had plenty of leftovers for another meal or two. I'm glad they were sold out of the jalapeno cheddar sausage.“

“First timer review ? I expected more meat 2 ribs (Bigger size)& one slice of brisket (Nice cut & size). I would have liked 3 ribs & two slices of brisket (The favor was ok Podnahs has better flavor, its was cooked excellent, but I would use a different wood like Mesquite, the sausage was good, but little dry, 1 side of mac (It was great, but Matts has better flavor ), & the collards & sweet potatoes (It was just okay & a little on the oily side for my liking), you have to ask for bread, and I didn't like that, NO NAPKINS, porta potty out back, but is was clean. I have eaten at alot of BBQ restaurants. Would I come back yes & that all that really matters & my friend liked his sandwich. Great staff. We both agreed on 4 star.“

“We parked in a nearby lot on SE 11th Ave & SE Madison St ($3/hr) instead of trying to find street parking. It was pouring rain on a Wednesday at 1pm in February and the carts were still open. It wasn't busy at all. There was seating near the fire pit or more seating in the back with heat lamps! We ordered a vegan club from Smaaken Waffle Sandwiches that was very good. It took a while for the order and they didn't give me a buzzer. We also got mac & cheese from Le Bistro Montage Ala Cart. There are 2 bathrooms (no code needed). I was surprised that they were actually pretty clean. Definitely would recommend coming to show friends around.“

“We used Local Grind for catering our work party this week and I am beyond thrilled with both the food and customer service from Local Grind!Larry was fantastic to work with, and provided more than enough food for 50 people, as well as signage, utensils, plates, sauces, etc. He really thought of every little detail and had it all ready for me to pick up. His thoughtfulness and concern made it easy to feed a large crowd at our party, and took all the stress out of the process. Also, the food was absolutely delicious. We had Teriyaki Chicken, Kalua Pork, Tofu, Rice, Yakisoba noodles, Macaroni salad and green salad. Each of us took seconds (and even thirds) and there was still food left over (which we'll happily be eating for lunch tomorrow!) There was something for everyone and we were all very happy with the quality and taste of the food.If you are having a party or meeting, I can't recommend Local Grind highly enough. We were so impressed, and will definitely be ordering from them again for our next event. Thank you Larry!!!“

You know, because one time he went there, or maybe it reminds him of something... or, maybe this place is about connection. Maybe that's why I've heard about it... or maybe it's the drinks? I don't know...But, what if it is about connection? About talking to the person you came with, thinking about picking up that phone call when you'd usually hit ignore on a Saturday night, or maybe just remembering a moment when you were absolutely happy to hear a live band play something you've never heard on the radio...You know, the radio... that thing people always listened to on their commute to somewhere...“

I do feel like they start to get stingy & come around a lot less after we order anymore than like 3 rounds. Place is cool, very loud, K-pop music playing in the background, people chatting, grills sizzling. Great place for hanging out with friends & drinking a little too much soju. This location is my preferred over their sister location in Beaverton as well, we tried the one in Beaverton once & lord our server must've been having a bad day because they gave us the nastiest attitude & barely checked on us. “Came here as group of us were doing a art walk on Alberta street, was craving for some meaty food, stopped by this spot where there were few other food trucks, mind you Portland is known for food trucks as I discovered, we ordered bbq ribs that came with the potato salad And greens and , chicken wings. Mind you, I have never seen my fiancé finishing potato salad when we've ordered in the past from other place, which he did so there must be something good about this place , he liked the collard greens, meat was cooked well, I just thought it was little too much bbq sauce, meat kinda somewhat seemed like they were swimming in the sauce as I don't really like having that much sauce on the meat but however I liked the meat itself. We were definitely full and satisfied after. I would go back again.“
