“As soon as I walked up to the counter, I got super friendly service. While I was trying to figure out what to get, the guy working offered me a sample and was really welcoming.
I ended up going with the Hawaiian pulled pork sandwich (not totally sure of the exact name on the menu, but you can't miss it). It was amazingly good. The bun paired so well with the pineapple and pulled pork, and you could tell all the ingredients were high quality.
The customer service was top-notch, too. The employee noticed where I was sitting and came over to open up the roll-out window so I could enjoy the nice weather, without me even having to ask. He even mentioned which local bakery they get their fresh buns from. I was super impressed and will definitely be back!“

“We had J&L cater our 130 person wedding with two choices of Meats and 3 sides. The whole process with them went so smoothly, they delivered our food timely and we received TONS of great reviews on the food. Their catfish was AMAZING and the corn bread and green beans with bacon were a hit. “I originally came to this food cart pod to get some tacos, and after ordering I saw this BBQ spot and got a craving for ribs. The gentleman working was nice enough to sell my husband and I two ribs as an appetizer before our tacos, and we loved them! Falling off the bone and the spicy sauce wasn’t so hot that it took away from the flavor, just gave it a nice kick. I look forward to coming back to get a full plate.“

“During my Portland food adventure, I had to stop by Trap Kitchen PDX! And let me tell you, this was definitely an experience to remember!

I went all in and ordered their famous $150 Pineapple Bowl! Yes, $150! I wanted to experience it for myself and see what all the hype was about. The creativity and presentation definitely made this a unique food experience.

What made my visit even more special was receiving a cookbook from the owner. That was a thoughtful gesture I truly appreciated!

Two words: Meat sweats

I went for the very first time during burger week 2026 and got “The Tribute”. I drove 45 minutes to get there and got number 198 of 200 for the morning session. The crew was exhausted, but absolutely delightful.

Add the brisket for $10 more. Trust me.

I eat fast. This took me 10 minutes. I had to pause, stand up and ask the lawd for strength and courage to finish. Afterwords, I had to buy 2 Cokes and take a nap in the air conditioned car before completing my journey home safely. Best burger I’ve ever had. I actually said out loud, “Are you kidding me?”

“I had the tofu soup and the BBQ beef short ribs. I’m not sure if the flavors are completely authentic, but I really enjoyed everything. The tofu soup was rich, comforting, and full of flavor, and the BBQ beef short ribs were tender and delicious. The portions were generous, and the meal left me feeling very satisfied. “This is a weekly thing for me , I eat a lot , but I take my reviews seriously . Food here is priced fair . $18.99 for a burger meal is good in my eyes , you actually get full and it doesn't taste like fake lab grown meat. Wait times are fair if it's a weekend maybe 20min is the worse I've seen with a group.“

“This place slaps. Never had a bad meal here and I’ve been here quite a few times. That beet salad is insane, and the fried chicken and fish are to die for.

“This is a no frills kind of place. Just come for the food. The owner/staff is friendly. We ordered chow mien, gai lan, and veg fried rice. The fried rice was tasty. I didn't expect that from veggie fried rice. I will try and come back before we leave town.“

Overall, it was a decent experience, and the service was good. The staff was attentive and polite.

However, I was quite disappointed with the scallops.

The scallop meat was surprisingly small compared with the size of the shells, and there was no noticeable adductor muscle connecting the meat to the shell. I can’t say for certain how the scallops were sourced or prepared, but the way they were presented raised a reasonable question about whether these were whole scallops or commercially purchased frozen scallop meat placed into shells.

I’m not making an accusation, because I obviously don’t know what happens in the kitchen. But if the restaurant is using frozen scallop meat and presenting it in shells, I think that should be clearly disclosed to customers. The appearance of the dish can create a very different impression from what customers may actually be receiving.

For a restaurant, trust and transparency matter. Even if the price seems reasonable, customers should feel confident that what they are being served matches what they reasonably expect to be ordering.

The service was good, which is why I’m giving the restaurant 8/10, but the scallops were definitely something I would like to see improved or explained more clearly.“
