Love this place!
FINALLY a Thai place that makes their spicy food truly spicy!! From the first bite I knew it was going to hit the spot. Really great food and killer spice. Can't wait to bring my spice-chasing dad here.
While I've had better thai food, this is the only place I've found in my 5 years of living in Portland that still makes their food spicy, recommend for heat lovers. Will return

Kinn Kao Northern Thai Kitchen is a Thai place in NE Portland that makes their food truly spicy. The restaurant is well decorated, light and airy, with white table cloths, nice place settings and a higher end feel. Guests can climb stairs to access the restaurant and sit at a formal dining room table or order takeout. The care taken to keep each order fresh, at the correct temperature and well presented is above and beyond, even with ice around homemade mango ice cream to keep it cold. The menu includes pad thai, duck larb salad, chicken green curry, fried trout dish with mango papaya salad and a spicy green curry that heat lovers seek. The food is great, killer spice, rich Thai flavors and quality that rivals hotel restaurant food in Bangkok and Phuket. Diners have praised the rum cocktail, the spicy green curry, the spicy food and the thoughtful service after a long hard day of travel. The place stays busy late, with many people picking up take out and a back patio that can be enjoyed in winter or rainy weather. Kinn Kao is recommended for anyone who wants authentic Thai heat, thoughtful care and a welcoming, airy dining experience.
