Everything is mediocre. I tried their ramen first, but it was just a fanciful version of dehydrated packaged ramen.I tried their bento box on my second visit. Everything had something wrong with it except the rice. Some of the kale was just spine, some of the string beans still had the stem, I had asked if the tempura had squash and was told no, but it had squash. Oh, and the miso soup was cold.Their sushi looks good in some pictures, but I've been too disenchanted to come back yet.edit: I appreciate the friendly response. Functioning like a true Japanese place may sound nice, but if it results in miscommunication it’s not functioning well. As for the ramen, perhaps I was being too harsh.. but it simply was not impressive. And, I went back recently to offer a second chance. It was difficult to eat the noodles, and I eventually discovered that they were all attached. I know that this happens from time to time. I asked for a discount and was told I’d get a $1.50 discount because “It’s not that expensive.” If that’s the case, it’s really unimpressive.

Closed temporarily due to storm damage, but our fave place for Udon and Donburi. My favorite dish is anything with the eel!

Initial impressions seemed promising, but unfortunately, the experience fell short. While the restaurant presented well with polite staff and a weekday crowd, the ramen lacked flavor, and the fried chicken had an unusual batter taste, making it unappealingly hard. On a positive note, the sushi order stood out and warrants the two-star rating.

This is our favorite sushi restaurant in the area. High quality sushi that’s worth the price! Their bento is also delicious, the tempura or katsu is always flavorful and not greasy. They have one of the best agedashi tofu I ever had as well!

Totally guilty of judging this spot, thinking how can a sushi place nestled between a dingy motel and a mcdonalds be good??!!! WRONG I WAS. This spot is excellent! Sushi is great, but I actually enjoy their ramen and gohan rice dishes just as much. Amazing food, clean, great staff, priced well...Please support this amazing local establishment! They are so awesome! Thank you, SHO!

A well loved and appreciated restaurant. Many “old Japan hands” eat here. Authenticity of Japanese cuisine that is unrivaled in Portland. “Ofukuro no aji” (The flavor of Mom’s cooking), if your mom is a 5 star chief.Presentation is beautiful. “Japanese food is eaten first with the eyes” is fully on display with each plate. The fish is always the best. Sashimi, sushi or grilled you can’t go wrong. “Neta ga saiko desu”!The house curry rice, ramen, tonkatsu and bentos are all great. The prices have gone up, but not as much as many other venues. Sho’s is still the best value for the quality. If you have a visitor from Japan craving Japanese food this is where you take them.Sometimes it does get busy. And that tells you something.Dietary restrictions: Sho’s understands and accommodates many of the challenges we are faced with.Kid-friendliness: YesWheelchair accessibility: Yes

Do not eat here!!! My son and I just left this restaurant hungry with a full bill. We ordered 3 premium rolls and they were not fresh. The saki salmon crunchy roll, we can't taste any salmon. I literally looked for the salmon. The devouring flames and Yokozuna were very fishy ==> not fresh. The rolls fell apart. We talked to a waitress, probably the owner, and she did not offer to remedy our dinning experience! Disappointed!!!

Mediocre sushi that was incredibly over priced. We ordered 3 of their premium rolls and left after trying a bite of each. Rice to fish ratio was very rice heavy with fish barely visible, rolls were poorly rolled and fell apart, and worst of all the fish tasted off. They charged us full price and made no effort to remedy our dissatisfaction.

An incredibly friendly and comfortable place with great service and even better food. I had the chicken curry katsu and the kisaragi roll, and they were both excellent choices. The staff is cheerful and helpful, offering good suggestions when asked and chatting with customers like the folks at a good local restaurant do. If you find yourself in this part of town, definitely try this place.

Authentic Japanese food. Tokyo Ramen was really good and the portion was filling. Sushi roll was delicious. Agedashi Tofu was good so was the leafy veggie salad. The fried foods like tempura and pork katsu was not the best I've had but also not bad. Will have to come back to try their tempura ice cream another time.

They seated us at a very rickety table, and when we mentioned it, they just chuckled. We had to request to move to a different table from our waiter. The food was nothing special. I heard good things about the tonkatsu ramen, but they said they don't have tonkatsu anymore. Ok, but not planning to return.
