“My wife had the salmon hash breakfast while I had the corned beef hash breakfast. Both dishes were absolutely delicious. The raspberry jam for our toast and croissant was some of the best I've ever had. Can't wait to come back and try the French toast and Crepes.“

“Nice surprise. Somehow we'd never noticed this bakery, but very glad we found it. Grabbed a donut, a raspberry turnover, and a cream cheese & jalapeño stuffed bread for breakfast. The cake donut was soft, fresh and not overly sweet...but the other 2 were the standouts. We loved the flavor and uniqueness of the bread. And the turnover was one of the best and flakiest I've probably ever had. Service was adequate and the place is tiny with a couple of tables inside. The black coffee was average, but glad they offered. Yummy pastries! Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area and wanting a tasty treat!“

“My first time stopping in so they gave me a free loaf of fresh bread of my choice! Nice. I selected a rustic hard crust whole wheat from Portland Bakery. Thanks! While they clearly have a lot of bread items - English muffins, white bread, whole wheat bread, sourdough boule, hamburger and hot dog buns, specialty breads like cinnamon and apple crisp - they also have several varieties of muffins, breakfast bars, and cookies. Even Little Debbie treats, Moon Pies and Pizzelle cookies. Jams and jellies, too! Crackers, honey, bottled juice - so much!Prices vary depending on whether it's fresh bread or a few days old. The fresh bread is about $1 or 50 cents less than grocery store. The day old is half price or more. I picked up a pack of sourdough English muffins for $1.50. For large families that consume a lot of bread and bread products, it's worth a stop. They even have loyalty punch cards. And for those in need, they donate bread that is close to expiration date. Very friendly staff. Huge parking lot. Convenient location.“

“Great Mexican bakery with savory bread stuffed with jalapeño, pan dulce, donuts, a variety of butter cookies, molasses cookies and sweet empanadas. You grab a tray and tongs and select your own treats from the cabinet. The store is clean, service is friendly and there is parking right out front. Right off exit 84 from I-84, I stop here first before running my errands in The Dalles.“

Safeway Bakery Bakery • $$

“I'm happy to have several grocery store options in The Dalles. This Safeway has all the normal departments, they always have hot, fresh roasted chicken, baked foods, good produce and veggies. Plus a Starbucks. Great place to stock up on breakfast items, deli meat and bread, snacks, drinks and fruit when I'm staying nearby on long weekends and vacation. Prices same as Safeway in Portland. Staff has always been friendly, some even have gone out of their way to assist me when they were in break, checking prices on items to ensure they rang up correctly with my rewards. So many complaints from others! But they would complain way more if Safeway didn't have a location here. Easy access from I-84. Theu have their own gas station and it's close to the other stores like Petco, Staples, Walgreens and next to the Goodwill shopping area with a drive through Starbucks, Bargain Market and Dollar Store.“
