“I got the Ruben. It was delicious!! The rye bread was toasted perfectly... so crunchy. Best Ruben I've ever had. A couple of others in my group got pizza burgers >> super thick burgers! My husband got the fish sandwich and it was huge, could've made two sandwiches out of the filet.”

“The food here is wonderful and they actually make it spicy when you ask for spicy. Our waitress, Swee, was incredibly attentive and friendly. I’m so happy that Altoona finally has such a great Thai place for us to go to. We will be back! Oh we had the green curry and pad thai with crispy chicken as well as the Tom kha and Tom yum. The Thai tea is sooooo rich and delicious too. I could go and on and on. I’m usually very picky with my Thai food.”

“We decided to celebrate a special anniversary at Finellis and couldn't have been happier with our evening! We made a reservation and had a cozy table on this cold January evening. We were greeted promptly and while we were looking over the menu, we were given a pre-appetizer of a pasta & sausage salad in a delicious dressing. We did order an appetizer of "Drunken Mushrooms" to start and could believe how good they were and a very large portion too. We weren't rushed to order and when ready, gave our server, Christi, our order. The salads were very generous and fresh and we enjoyed two of the house-made dressings. I had an Italian vinaigrette which we loved so much, we purchased some to take home. We did ask for some bread or rolls and a basket was brought out. Out of the two, the bread was the best! Then came the meals. . .my wife had Eggplant Parmisan over angel hair pasta which she loved! I had a huge grilled pork porterhouse steak, cooked to perfection and accompanied by red roasted parsley potatoes and green beans in Jack Daniels sauce. The only thing we really didn't like was the green beans. . .was hoping for fresh cut ones and we couldn't taste the Jack Daniels sauce. That was so minor and we had so much food by then, it really didn't matter in the context of writing this review. The entree portions were large but yet totally scrumptious and seasoned / cooked to perfection. For dessert, they brought over a tray of about 8 or so desserts to pick from. . .all homemade by Mrs. Finelli herself! Oh my. . . who could resist? We decided to take a piece of Italian Almond Cake with butter cream icing. . .it was more than enough for us to share and especially after a big meal. The dessert was heavenly to say the least and we ate every bite! Last but not least, a big shout out to our server, Christi. . . .she made our dinner so enjoyable. . .friendly and checking in on us to see if we needed anything, refilling drinks and helping us order the perfect meal selections for us! A big thanks to her and Finellis. . .we will definitely be back soon!”

The food is AMAZING! Also they provide table and chair rentals as well as set up and tear down and clean up!!! In one phone call they take care of everything!!! “Stopped in for lunch while visiting from out of town. From the outside, Knickerbocker has that neighborhood corner bar feel that seems to beckon you in for a cool one. Once inside the bar, though, the atmosphere is very 1920s probation era swank, bold burgundy painted walls, black and white photos of public figures, a very well stocked bar and a menu full of curiosities. I love places like this. The bartender was quite friendly and attentive, making small talk with the local lunch crowd. I kept things simple and grabbed a super smash burger and Lager. The burger was juicy and delicious, think if someone hand crafted a Big Mac but with only the finest ingredients. The chips which appeared to be house made were great
as well. Unfortunately, I didn't get to experience sitting in the courtyard, not quite the time of year for that anymore. To sum it up, Knickerbocker Tavern is an awesome joint, if I lived in Altoona this would definitely be one of my regular spots. I'll be sure to tell anyone heading that way to stop in”

“Had to try the hotel pizza - pleasantly surprised - quite tasty! Very fresh - crust was very nice, yellow cheese may look odd, but was creamy and worked for the slice well. Wish I lived closer - I’d be stopping for lunch frequently. Look forward to returning. Owner and employees were very friendly, it’s great to thoroughly enjoy an experience in a small town restaurant with fresh ingredients, good people. Neat memorobelia on the walls, too.
