“My partner and I went to this bar last night for the first time not expecting much. We were pleasantly surprised as we found it was one of the coolest bars we've been to. The food was amazing, I am very picky when it comes to hot wings and the hot wings at this bar were so good and they were gigantic. The price was awesome. All the drinks were very fresh and you could tell they really keep the place clean. They were doing karaoke so that was a really cool experience. We were only planning on going out for an hour or so for a date night and had so much fun we ended up staying for hours. With the drinks, the food, the atmosphere, and the people being as great as it all was we can definitely say we are going back to this bar! We definitely recommend this place if you're looking for a great time.“

There's always room (and treats and water) for any 4 legged friend there. They are greeted and treated just like any other customer. “Y'all, we went to Sunrise Mount Penn Deli (on Carsonia, where Jake's used to be) for lunch today, and I have got to say, we had the best chicken cheese steak and fries ever, their smoothies are made with the freshest fruit and veg and taste like a dream (we tried banana, mango, pineapple), and their ice cream (especially the coffee) is to die for. From the moment I walked in, the warm and colorful decor transported me straight to the heart of Guatemala. The staff was incredibly friendly, greeting us with genuine smiles and offering helpful suggestions for first-time visitors. The menu was rich with traditional dishes, each one promising bold, authentic flavors.

We started with the antojitos, and the pupusas were perfectly crisp on the outside and filled with warm, cheesy goodness. The chuchitos, small corn tamales with a savory tomato sauce, were delightful and full of flavor. For the main course, I ordered the Pepián, a thick, aromatic stew with tender chicken and a rich blend of roasted spices—it was beyond amazing. My partner had the Jocon, a traditional green sauce chicken dish, and said it was one of the most flavorful meals they’ve ever had.

Every bite tasted like a home-cooked Guatemalan meal made with love. The portions were generous, and the prices were more than fair for the quality. The homemade tortillas were fresh and the perfect accompaniment to every dish. The beverages were just as memorable—the rosa de jamaica was refreshing and naturally sweet, while the atol de elote offered a comforting, creamy finish.

The ambiance was relaxed yet festive, with traditional Guatemalan music playing softly in the background. Service was prompt, attentive, and knowledgeable. We felt truly welcomed, like we were part of the family. Even the presentation of the dishes was beautiful—colorful, rustic, and inviting. Dessert was a standout as well, especially the rellenitos de plátano filled with sweetened black beans and dusted with sugar.

This restaurant is a hidden gem that deserves all the recognition it can get. I’ve already recommended it to several friends and can’t wait to return. Cash only establishment but there is an ATM on site. One thing - I like hot tea with honey and sometimes the honey packets aren’t that good. Dark and gloppy(it’s probably fine - just unappetizing looking as it’s dropping into my tea). I know you probably have to buy a hundred at a time and don’t give out that much so (just a suggestion), it might be better to just not offer it. I consider it a “bonus condiment” lol. If server says “sorry we don’t have honey”and I end up using sugar - it’s not a big deal…and I would have just stopped writing after my compliment lol. I do love your place. It’s cozy.“

My wife and I signed our venue contract one-year to the date ahead of our big day, with a different coordinator, one who ultimately ended up transitioning to a different organization just a week before our tasting was scheduled. For a couple planning a wedding, especially so close to their big day, this would normally have been an incredibly stressful change to hear about, however, we were expeditiously contacted by Hannah and met her days later at our tasting – immediately after meeting her we knew we were in great hands, and we both agree that our initial impression was spot on. Hannah’s attention to detail, flexibility, and knowledge have continued to impress ourselves, our parents, and our guests who experienced a phenomenal wedding just this past weekend. She not only hit the ground running with our event, but confirmed several details and was able to work with us to ensure our wedding day was as perfect as possible. While I have personally sent messages to several friends I know who are engaged and looking for venues, I wanted to share this note here for those couples looking for venues – Stokesay should 100% be on your list; the charm, history, venue, and staff will all make your big day as perfect as you could ever dream of – if anything, just go check it out – once you see this in person you’ll see exactly what we are talking about. Friendly staff! Generous portions and quality food — they use real eggs for all of their dishes (I personally watched them crack >100 eggs from my table. One reviewer was reporting they used powdered eggs which is simply not true). Only the best at Chatty’s!
