I miss some of the charm of the old vibe, but the Pub is in the hands of someone who appears to care about the place, while following her own vision. “I I love this place.. All of the bar maid's are so nice. I have a few favorite's like Michelle, Jody, and Elise. Maxwells is a clean quiet peaceful little spot that go can go to and have a drink or two and don't have to worry about looking over your shoulder or watching your back while you do so..“

“Our favorite spot for beer and snacks after a run in Frick Park. Great local energy and friendly bartenders. Be sure to check out the weekly specials — the hotdog menu is delicious and extensive. They also have one of the best beer lists in the area. I love being able to grab an IPA, lager or imperial stout all in one place. You can also grab beer to go here as well. Check out D’s…you won’t regret it!“

“It’s been ages since I’ve been here, but I’ve been missing out. The smoky dive of my youth is now a smoke-free place that has surprisingly good food, including a delicious burger.
It’s loud and lively, but not overwhelming. The service is excellent.“

“Visiting Pittsburgh over the weekend and couldn’t miss our Buckeyes vs TTUN. Mike’s Beer Bar was recommended, and it was hands down one of the best game day bar experiences we’ve ever had. The atmosphere was incredible, drink menu (both on tap and cans) showing a plethora of choices to satisfy anyone, and great food. The staff was second to none and very friendly as well. Already looking forward to our next visit!“

Little hole-in-the-wall place with not a lot of seats, but it was always full.\nThe most amazing thing about Shale's was that when I ordered food, they had a grill outside and a dude just going to town cooking up double cheeseburgers for all the patrons.\nHe was amazing to talk to, and the burgers were excellent.“

“I ate before arriving, so I didn’t have any of the food. But the kitchen was pumping out orders the entire time I was there. Drinks were generous with alcohol. Bartender was nice. Atmosphere was light, like I came with one friend felt like I knew everyone else I encountered. Good music choices were made on the jukebox. I enjoyed myself.“

“I had their ham BBQ sandwich and it was so good. My girlfriend and I split the fried pickles which had bacon bits on it which was unique and very flavorful. The size of the pickles were also surprising because they were big and tasty. It has a nice atmosphere and if you go around the holidays you'll see some nice Christmas aesthetics. The service was also really good and fast with our waiting staff and servers checking on us frequently and bringing us our food quickly and efficiently. I will be returning with more people next time so they can know how awesome this place is.“

“i have taken several people here visiting from all over PA and even Florida. Everyone loved it, it's like a dive bar from the past. Not fancy on purpose, not pretentious on purpose. The food is off the charts, wings, burgers, cheese steaks. They even have a tent set up for the covid. Do yourself a favor and find this gem.“

“Clean and good service. They have pool, darts, and outdoor seating. You can order food at the bar from Portofinos next door and they bring it over so you can eat at gormans. Their food is amazing and so reasonably priced, they also have different drink specials everyday, and many of them. The bartender Sam is a sweetheart and great at her job. She recognized me and my boyfriend by the second time we came in, remembered what drinks we got, and shes great at making conversation. We will definitely keep coming back“
