“Als Touristen sind wir ohne große Erwartungen ins Dirty Frank's. Wir wurden im Prinzip am ersten Tag schon als Stammgäste angesehen. Ab dem zweiten Tag, fühlten wir uns auch so. “I am gonna give Krupas tavern 100 starts if possible! I found this hidden gem while staying in airbnb in art museum area! I told the bartenders(owners) that I am soon to move to Philly for work and they took it upon them to ensure I would have a safe neighborhood to live in! She literally took hours out of her day to make sure I find a good neighborhood and gave me all the tips I need to live in this city. This bar is the epitome of small establishment/center of community! The sisters helped me out a lot I am in debt to them and I will be coming back here a lot more to talk to them even tho I will be living outside philly! Their personality is reminds me of a warm cup of soup my grandma made. Krupa's tavern will make you feel like you are home away from home. Thank you for the hospitality! Don't feel intimidated to talk to the sisters they are the sweetest and place is a little slow on the weekends but that's the only time I went in.“

“While in the city to grab a cheesesteak from Pat's I Google mapped the are to see what we were close to. Ray Happy Birthday Bar is just a block away. What a great little local spot. Our bartender (I believe was Chrissy) was on point with our drinks and just had that special personality that brings the whole bar together. Plenty of TVs around for your Philly sports“

“Sorry I didn't have any food. But a great little corner bar. Old time stuff. Just a place to go in and have a couple drinks. And pick up on the occasional conversation, which can get very interesting. Great bartender will make what you ask him to.
Please do not pass on good information about this place. I don't want anybody else finding out about it.
If you're lucky you can run into the psychologist that I ran into, and get a session for the price of a couple drinks.

“I been going to Mickey's for over 30 years. I took my Sean to the dentist across the street. So I wandered in and all the friends I made back in the day were there and remembered me. The bartender remembered the day my wife Patrice died, I held her in my arms til her last breath. Her will to live was so powerful that she pulled the whole oxygen tent into her mouth.When she finally let it out that was it.I told everyone that I was staying. Eventually people stated to leave but I wouldn't let go of my precious girlI couldn't accept it. Our Heather finally had to leaveI stayed and held her until she lost all her color and turned to ice. I realized she was gone. And I finally could stop cuddling her like she loved.I walked out of that hospital in a trance. I drove down to Mickey's and walked in but I couldn't talk. The guys knew something was wrong. They were giving me space . I got a vodka and went to the front door to just gaze at the sky. The bartender came over and asked if I was alright. Stood in the doorway with me.Almost instantly the sky opened up and the fiercest hail storm We ever seen just came outta nowhere and everyone was in awe, gaping at the intensity and I turned around and said Patrice just died and these are the tears of heaven ? ?They were stunned, they all loved her!!Anyone that knew her loved her. You could not help it. I was the luckiest man in the world ⚘️ and suddenly she was gone. Beem 15 years and I still grieve.I cry every time I have to talk about her.ICry when I think about her. So today in Mickey's I was overwhelmed with emotions when they welcomed me and remembered that Hailstorm . I cried uncontrollable. I am just trying to get this out my friends. Sometimes it helps“

“Dee's is a family owned and run bar, they are very friendly and its a great place to kick back and have a few cold ones wit ya buddies, they have live music from time to time, a dart league which is about to start up, they just got a shuffleboard and getting ready to start a league with that as well.“

The staff is great (90% of the time ?), the patrons are usually very respectful, and the atmosphere is always light for the most part. Eric and Vinny are two of my favorite bar tenders. They make even the slowest nights the most fun. I normally come during the week, as opposed to the weekends, and I never regret it.“

“My wife and I came here to experience the famous bar mentioned in a Zach Bryan song. We drove all the way from south Georgia. When we first walked in we were immediately greeted by the bar tender Jay. Jay was very professional and did a great job showing two southerners some at home hospitality. He was very attentive and held great conversation. I personally loved the bar and the atmosphere, but smokey dive bars are my thing. Drinks were super cheap as well. Once our time here came to a close I gave Jay two patches from the Fire Department and Station I am assigned too. I explained that some bars and brewery's take them and hang them up to show support from around the world, and that I felt McGlinchey's was certainly worthy of displaying the patches. Jay explained that he is retired military and loved this idea and he accepted the patches with pride. I hope to come back to McGlinchey's one day. They certainly know how to make you feel at home.“

“My girlfriend and I were visiting Philly from Oregon, looking for a good dive on a Tuesday night. Struck out like 3 times—then we found Grumpy's.

Opened the door and realized they allowed smoking indoors. Neither of us are smokers (I quit 11 years ago), but we absolutely loved that they allowed it. And we aren't right wingers either, we're pretty lib. People are as free to smoke as they are to leave. I hadnt seen a bar like that since I was a teenager. We both definitely took showers immediately upon getting back to the hotel though.

They have cheap drinks, cash only, bartender was a bit standoffish until I tipped him a modest amount on our first round; understandable. He was a G the rest of the night. They were the only place we found that had late-night karaoke on a Tuesday, complete with a jukebox loaded with Creed. But we just played Booty Man by Tim Wilson the whole time anyway.

One pool table, quality felt and cues. We played some local people for fun and won because they scratched on the 8-ball. They gave us a lot of great recommendations on where to go for Wednesday and Thursday karaoke.

Great people here, made a lot of friends. Highly recommend. Showed up at 1 am so we didn't eat any of the food.“

“I met my sweetheart here for a first date. He was recently moved to the Philadelphia area and mentioned in his profile that he hoped to try an Ethiopian restaurant. I suggested Dahlak, which I had been going to for about 40 years, although not recently. The food was still decent, the service and atmosphere mediocre. But I'm giving it five stars because the date was great. He brought me some of his homemade red lentil stew, frozen and carefully wrapped in an Amazon padded envelope that included a bottle of frozen water. We both wanted to see each other again.“

“Nice little underground bar that we discovered. My husband and I wanted to explore this area and found this spot.
It’s definitely a local hang out spot.
Bartender was super nice. They don’t have a lot of things on hand to make specialty cocktails but she improvised and made it work. Beer on tap is good.
Prices are great.
Decor is definitely an old time, basement, comfy kind of feeling. It’s very dim but cool.
Overall we liked it and recommend trying it out.“
