“I check the weekly offerings and try to plan a trip when something sounds appealing. I will say that I have enjoyed 95% of the ones I tried. You can't go wrong with the semi-sweet chocolate chip. The pineapple upside down cake was delicious. The orange creamsicle flavor was spot on. They recently had a peanut butter crisp cookie featuring Butterfinger. It tasted like the candy bar in cookie form.“

“Stopped here on a whim while visiting Pittsburgh for the weekend. We were looking to grab a coffee and pastry and found this place close to where we were headed. Let me tell you. I would come here every day!! Delicious. We had an almond croissant, hazelnut croissant and brought some bread home. Just slices the olive loaf. I cannot explain how delicious it is. Keep doing a great job. We will be back when we visit the city again!!“

“I follow the bakery on Instagram, and I kept seeing those biscuit breakfast sandwiches that looked amazing. Then when I saw the cinnamon rolls & the chocolate snack cakes, I knew I had to make the journey from the North Hills to try them. When I got there, I ordered the cinnamon roll and a brisket, egg & cheddar biscuit breakfast sandwich with no bbq sauce. I was sad that they didn't have the chocolate snack cakes. I asked the young lady who waited on me when was the best time to catch the snack cakes? She said she would check with the bakers. She came back and said that if I was willing to wait, it would only be a few minutes for them to get iced. I waited of course and when I got home, I smelled it and boy oh boy did it smell and look awesome!!! Shout out to the young lady that waited on me. She really went above and beyond. Everything was delicious!!!!“

We tried the blueberry lemon, the chocolate peanut butter and the strawberry pretzel salad cupcake (great for sweet and salty)…all 3 fantastic! We also tried the shortbread dippers too..so good! I wish we took pictures of our goodies but we ate them too fast!! Also what a friendly couple running this business! Always outgoing and willing to spend time describing their cupcakes to customers with a smile. Also come to find out they have a store front too in Pitcairn and they do much more than just cupcakes. Erin was wonderful! She brought out the reading trackers for all our students, and surprised us with their yummy Bundt cakes for our staff! Thank you so much for your support, and the absolutely delicious Bundt cakes! I can’t wait to get our kids started, so they can receive their yummy Bundlet!! “Prantls has historically been my FAVORITE bakery in all of Pittsburgh. But prices have really gone up in recent years (almost doubling for my favorite items), and quality standards have gone down. The last 2 times I visited the North Side location, I received a stale cookie. A stale Prantls cookie is still pretty great, but I used to pay about $2 for a fresh iced cookie, and now it’s at least $4 and stale… 2 visits in a row! I visited on July 8th and saw old Fourth of July cookies with red frosting that had faded into the white frosting. I also ordered an Almond Torte bar (a take down of their famous cake, and something I’ve ordered many times). I mentioned that I get it every year on my anniversary because it’s what we had at our wedding. Today I received a chocolate version of the almond torte. It was quite a surprise when we unboxed it at home! Not what I asked for. I’m still giving them 4 stars because I know inflation sucks, the pandemic was hard on small businesses, and even stale or incorrectly ordered Prantls is still pretty tasty. But if you visit, maybe try out the Shadyside location?“

“Cakes by Colby made what seemed like a difficult choice a super easy one! From moment one walking in the door, you could see the artistry in her work and where her specialties lay. The tasting was a delight, and if anything we ate waaaaay too much while were there, but it was all so incredibly good!
