Well executed sandwich -- a fried shrimp po boy packed with shrimp, and roll was toasted; a nice touch. Deducted one star because seemed like a bit too much salt. Although I ordered online and after getting no confirmation of order for an hour visited the store, I did not deduct any points because they were very apologetic and polite and explained that they system seemed to be malfunctioning.
tl;dr the fish po' boys at this Mount Airy sandwich shop are fantastically delicious and hearty, overshadowing even the terrible serviceGilben's is a family-owned soul foodery best known for its signature po' boys. The 3 interconnected shops -- the Bakery, the Creation, and the Smokehouse -- collectively sport a brown-and-pink storefront, immediately popping out from a dull and industrial block. The stores are all slightly tacky and run down, but each is otherwise uniquely decorated....read full review
