Monk's Cafe Reviews
I love visiting Philly as frequently as time allows me. If your looking for an amazing little pub with brews from around the world then this place is for you! The mussels are amazing too, with fresh bread. yum!. Great services, good food, great brew! I Highly recommend!
My partner and I aren't in Philly often, but when we are, we absolutely have to stop at Monk's for the smoked trout dip and Ghent mussels, and whatever tasty brew from the extensive beer selection. Highly recommend!!
was here last night with some friends and although it was PACKED, we had a great time at the bar rail then moved to a booth for some yummy dinner! if you can spare the wait, it is well worth every sip and morsel!💙

Monk's Cafe is a small Belgian beer haven with a bustling atmosphere. The beer selection is very well sourced and thoughtfully curated, including Chimay, Chouffe, and other pillars of Belgian brewing. They also feature elite American craft beers, such as ales from Alchemist and Russian River. The food includes barroom staples like burgers, as well as Belgian classics such as frites and mussel. The pairing of food and drinks is solid and friendly. The Gent Mussels are a highlight, with various flavors and generous portions, and the Hercule Stout is recommended for beef lovers. The atmosphere is cozy, compact, and unpretentious, with no televisions, which keeps the vibe warm and focused on drinks, meals, and conversation. The duck salad remains a crowd favorite, and the vegan seitan sandwich surprises with its umami flavor. The lime pie dessert offers a tangy finish. Expect a wait during peak times, especially for larger groups, but visiting on a weekday or off-peak hours makes it worthwhile. Whether you enjoy seafood or a burger, Monk's Cafe has something for everyone in the heart of Philly.
