“This has become our go-to place for sandwiches. The ingredients are always very fresh and the rolls and buns are so soft and good tasting. And all that goodness is then wrapped up in paper at least three layers thick so it is fresh and does not get damaged when I tuck it in my bike trunk. Also, whenever we arrive the workers are always so friendly I feel like I am part of a small family and just stopping by for a meal.Matt and Marcella have really been fantastic in their care for the food they create and serve. I believe those that work there enjoy working there, and take pride in what they produce.So we will continue to do our regular meal run because this place is great!“

“Dietary restrictions: When it wasn’t well-known, I was gluten-free. The owner said he did not have gluten-free rolls, but if I brought my own in, he would make my hoagie on it. They still do not have gluten-free rolls (which I would love to see change in the future), but they do accommodate. For that, it puts their service far beyond other hoagie shops. “The new Deli Fresh Deli in the Penndel Shopping Center is the creation of local hero Johnny G, who has operated many kitchen eateries in the vicinity. He took over and remade a former Subway, bringing full delicatessen sensibility and local color to a commercial zone that really needed a bright coat of paint. Johnny was on hand to take my order yesterday and introduced himself. I got the short story version of his colorful restaurant history, and I realized that I had eaten in his former place on Brownsville Road a few times and enjoyed it tremendously. My expectations rose accordingly. The large front window sign proclaimed the roast beef, turkey and pork were all roasted on site. Good enough suggestion to order a large Roast Beef Hoagie (w provolone, lettuce, tomato, onion, mayo, hot pepper hash and sweets) on a handsome sesame seeded long torpedo roll. Wrapped tight in white, and our conversation concluded (after sampling the tortellini salad), I drove home to open it up on the kitchen table. First glance at the stuffed sub and my salivaries exploded. It was visually compelling. First bite confirmed that it all worked together perfectly to tantalize my tastebuds. It was a tremendous chomp and chew. Excellent crustiness, followed by folded layers of pink roast beef, provolone and all the rest. This was a mouth party to beat the band. Texture and flavor combined to have me close my eyes and savor the moment. I managed to eat about a third of it, and rolled up the remainder for later enjoyment and family sharing. Deli Fresh is the real deal for Italian style deli delights. They even have a pickle barrel for those who love cukes soured in brine. Its time is now.“

Once I got inside I seen all the sandwiches they had and was tempted so ordered 5- 1 ham and cheese hoagie 1chicken cutlet hoagie 1old world Italian and 2 Pisano….well they were all packed with meat these were amazing sandwiches. My husband said he stopped getting Italian hoagies because they always use ham on Italian hoagies and it’s not the same, NOT Chubby’s OMG delicious and the pisanos sandwiches did not disappoint they were so good!! “Frey's Deli & Pizza sits in a small strip center on northbound Lincoln Highway (Rt.1) in Penndel, PA. It is an unassuming place with a few tables, a big front window, and prep area in the back for pizza and takeout. There isn't much in the way of provisions in the refrigerated display case, but what they do have is either made inhouse or Dietz & Watson. I asked about their tuna salad, and was advised it was prepared fresh that morning and a popular seller. Good enough for me, I went with a whole hoagie with lettuce, plus sweet/hot peppers. Opened it back at the office. It was heavy in the wrap paper, and substantial upon opening. Not only was the tuna as good as advertised, but the roll had a nice crust and texture that was a pleasure to bite through. Quality sandwich all the way. Tasty, and not the least bit fishy. Just enough mayo to hold everything together and blend perfectly with all the ingredients. One of the better deli sammies of recent memory. Prices were good, too. Only downside - there wasn't much to chose from in the drink department. Definitely would benefit from more selection for washdown. But, other than that, Frey's was a very pleasant surprise nosh.“
