Had to come back for a specialist appointment yesterday, and asked friends, where can I get a good hoagie in Newtown Square. A Cut Above Deli was the ONLY recommendation, and they were 100% right! The hoagie was ready on time, wrapped in four sheets of paper, and was solid, hefty. The countermen were friendly and genuine. $15 for a "regular" seemed steep, but I was judging them by the standards of lesser sandwiches; once I opened it and got a bite, I realized it was a fair price. I just had the other half for breakfast, and it's gonna be a good day! Full marks, A Cut Above!“

“I only get to order from here a few times a year unfortunately, but every time i get something from here it is great. Eggs are always cooked perfectly. They're variety is fantastic. Cupbop is always great and hardy! They are a family and very friendly people every time. This most recent experience was interesting. I placed an online order and went to pick it up and when i got there all the lights were out due to a black out. I saw someone else go inside and talked to the owners about my order, and they still made my order for me in pitch black! I have never had a restaurant do this, ever. “This place is a good fit for Center City. It’s open late, which is handy. Most of the things are reasonably priced, although if something is clearly priced too expensively, you can just avoid purchasing it. It’s quite handy, and has a bodega/corner store vibe to it, which is cool since it’s located in Center City, Philadelphia, and often you only find stores like it in other parts of the city like Spanish bodegas. The drink selection is similar to what you can find in those types of stores throughout the city, which offers that kind of different selection, which I like. “I visited this eatery long, long, long ago. It was good then and it is good now, overall. The server was a true professional. She was stretched really thin, but handled it like a trooper. She forgot a couple items but was well spoken and sincere. We and others could easily see how much she was challenged. A big crowd came in right away. Again, she handled the entire early afternoon well. I showed her my appreciation by giving her a reasonable gratuity...There was a delay in someone else not receiving his meal-a simple breakfast sandwich-within 30 minutes. He exclaimed his frustration accordingly. The Good working female server was clearly not being supported as well as she deserved, and I do not know exactly why...“
