“Delicious meal, our only regret was going all out and getting the seafood platter when we should have asked for recommendations from the waiting staff. But our meal was absolutely delicious from start to finish. Only feedback would have been too much salt on the octopus starter.Definitely worth the trip and there are some lovely beaches nearby so we went and paddled before our meal.“

“One of the best meals we’ve ever had. We had the special with lobster, shrimp, fish, and more. It was incredibly good! Ask for some rice to join veggies on the side - it completes the meal! Service was phenomenal. View is stunning. 10 out of 10!“

The menu features a delightful selection of fresh seafood dishes expertly prepared. The service is attentive and knowledgeable, adding to the overall experience. Monte Mar deserves five stars for its exceptional dining experience.“
“The restaurant has large windows overlooking the ocean. Friendly and fast staff, good service. Food well served and of good quality. A little dated place, some renovation work should be done in the restaurant room and bathrooms. Recommended: No.“

“I would like to start with wonderful olive oil. The turbot fish was amazing, it came in perfect shape, the outer parts were juicy and jelly. Even though the mussels were small inside, they were very delicious. Small shrimps with garlic were delicious. Baby potatoes and boiled vegetables along with fish were the color of the meal. Served with tempura green beans, tartar sauce and basil sauce. It was the best I've ever eaten. We chose 2023 Soito white wine to accompany it.“

“Awesome lunch here. We got the red snapper which was great, filleted in front of us and came with fries. Staff were friendly and probably a fair price. Would recommend here for sure and to make sure to check reviews before eating in cascais as we nearly missed this place!“

“Location is worth it for the view of the beach. Very friendly service. Reasonable food. Very tight spaces. The restaurant is on top of the wall so there isn't much space. Not recommended on a hot day. It's a good restaurant to leave the beach, have lunch and return.“

“Restaurant with an excellent geographical position on the sea, impeccable table service, with great friendliness, attention and care.Menu mainly consists of fish and seafood, with meat options also available.Everything was served with great quality and lots of flavor. When it comes to desserts, it is essential not to save room for them, because everything available is divine.Without a doubt a place of excellence and may it continue to be so, I strongly advise you to enjoy a meal for lunch or dinner with a group, family because the space has the answer.“

“Not your bog standard sushi place. If you are looking for your food court experience, this is not the place. This is a true tasting experience rich in flavour, style and knowledge, if you are wanting. We came as guests of some friends and let them do the ordering… some things were on the menu and some things were little gifts that came out of the kitchen on the recommendation of the owners. There’s always something off the menu just remember to ask!The whitefish sashimi, ceviche, the house edemame were all stunning. The best though was the toro. If you like Wagyu then this is an absolute must. The owners are always around to help share their knowledge of sushi, the ceremony and the way to eat (spoiler alert - it’s often with your hands).I’ve been in Lisbon for almost 2 years and this will be one of my top 3 food experiences to date.A true culinary journey, and an absolute delight. It’s a small boutique restaurant with a lot of soul.“

“It was delicious - fresh oysters, amazing fried shrimp and tuna. My friend also tried the crab hot dog and said it was also great.Very tasty bread and butter for a snack - the only thing I wish was more bread per serving. We were with a baby and a large stroller, the staff helped us get comfortable (they refused to seat us in one of the neighboring places). We will happily return when we are in Cascais ❤️“

“A quaint restaurant with inside and outside tables that was affordable and convenient to the main area of Caiscais central. I had the seafood rice which I had been told to find before I left Lisbon and this was one of the few places I found for a reasonable price. The shrimps were huge and generous and the fish pieces were nice. My friend had a mushroom chicken and rice/potatoes. The green wine on tap was also tasty. Obrigada.“

“It was our first visit, and it wasn't impressive... we ordered seafood rice, which actually wasn't bad, but it fell far short of expectations. It was a very basic rice clearly made with a previously prepared broth, and we expected a more "clean" rice made from prepared broths and made only from scratch with more natural flavors. However, it is well filled with seafood, but without clams or other types of bivalves, an unusual factor in a seafood rice dish. For starters, we were presented with a seafood pâté and some thin toast with butter, both delicious. The desserts all looked good, we ordered "French" pudding which turned out to be basic, but appetizing. The service was impeccable, however the head waiter always seemed to have a somewhat sullen attitude and was even a little rushed in clearing the tables. We will return to try other dishes, hoping that they exceed expectations, doing justice to the fame and renown of the house.“

“I came for lunch here several months ago, and we had a great time, in an idyllic setting facing the sea. We returned this 24/3; I had fish soup and sole fillets. We had a great time. But a few hours after the meal, I suffered from violent vomiting and fever, characteristic of food poisoning, which lasted more than 24 hours.I don't like to leave this kind of review, especially when the food is good, the service attentive and the sea view just perfect... but given what happened to me, I feel the duty to report it.“

“Reviewed June 7, 2023 via mobileYum!Fish is my favorite, I have fish almost every day at home in Canada. It’s easy for me to tell if a fish is fresh or not. Fresh fish needs a good chef to bring out its flavor, like developing a talent. The chef didn’t just grilled the sea beam to perfection l, the veggies and rice too. Everything was piping hot.I highly recommend it. I had several meals there during my two weeks stay in June this year. I will be back next June! Can't wait to see those cheerful friendly faces and eat their tasty seafood again!“

“Our tour group Collette brought us to this quaint little restaurant. We were so warmly accommodated. I felt welcomed and loved. The sour dough bread was Devine. Soup is highly recommended in Portugal. We had a cream carrot and green bean soup. Amazing! My main course was a white fish with a gravy sauce of onion and garlic with a side of baked potato wedges. This is beyond a 5*. Thank you“

“Stunning. I missed a photo of the clams, but they were delicious. The red prawns were absolutely stunning and the fish we had (sea bass) was soft and tender. They have a house chili oil which isn’t very spicy so if you need some kick, bring some from home. Service was faultless. We come often with visitors and for special occasions and have never left disappointed.“

“The food was really good and the waiter was nice. At first glance from the beach side, it seemed like a very simple snacking place, so we initially thought of just having drinks, but then we later decided to order food, and their Bacalhau a bras was really good. Well, all the items we had ordered were good, so I'd definitely recommend this place.“

“It was a special day for my mother, so we could only have chosen Pastorinha, friendly staff, extremely professional and uniquely delicate. The food was excellent, the grilled fish was wonderful. “While visiting Cascais, I came to have lunch at the Vela Azul Restaurant, a small, family-run space where traditional Portuguese food, especially fish, is the house specialty. The starter came with Bread, Toast, Butter and a Fresh Cheese. The main course consisted of tasty Grouper Fillets accompanied by naughty Tomato Rice and perfectly well prepared, full of aroma and flavor. I also ordered a Mixed Salad which was generous and well seasoned. I accompanied the meal with House White Wine and finished with a homemade Queijada. Meal around €26 per person. I recommend!“

“We booked here for a work lunch meal and there was 18 of us. They put all the starters on the table when we sat down which was some traditional Portuguese food and it was lovely, infact too lovely as I stuffed myself before my main arrived. They had a great menu selection and I had the fish. They didn’t have what I wanted so the waiter recommended a different fish dish and I’m glad he did, it was amazing. Really fresh and tasty. They have a display of fresh fish which you can choose from which makes it easier. A great restaurant choice if you are in Lagos Park for work.“

“Noisy, long wait for boarding even with a reserve. They asked for mussels, and in response they heard: “bacteria have been found in our mussels that cause poisoning, but if you want, I will bring them to you.” So many questions, so few answers...“
“We visited à friend who lives in Nazaré. She took us to this restaurant and what à fins: choose your fresh fish caught that day (sea break, sea bass, turbot, red snapper etc) & they will grill for you. The meal is served with boiled potatoes and salad. Unpretentious but authentic & tasty. Nice house white. You cannot book so arrive early, especially in the summer.“
