“My local friend has been raving about this restaurant since before I came to Portugal. Today, we finally made it there, famished from skipping breakfast and lunch. Despite our timing, we got a table right away.
We ordered clams (resembling mini dinosaurs), prawns, and sea bass with potatoes and a side salad. I loved the toasted bread they brought out. The prawns were incredibly sweet, and the clams were juicy, chewy, and delicious. One bite of toasted bread with butter, shrimp with cocktail sauce, and clam had my taste buds celebrating.
Then came the sea bass with potatoes and salad. The fish was incredibly fresh, perfectly seasoned, and those potatoes were divine. The salad, though simple, complemented the meal well, especially the sweet white onions. We loved them so much we asked for extra.
For dessert, we had "camel froth” (?translated ??)which tasted like caramel mousse, and my friend enjoyed a cake made with egg whites, reminiscent of marshmallow. Both were excellent.
The service was efficient, handled by two older gentlemen and a lady. They weren't overly friendly but definitely not rude, managing the busy crowd with skill. Overall, a fantastic dining experience.“

“We went to spend a day at the beach and based on the reviews, eat here. He did not disappoint us and we left delighted. We ate some oysters, grilled sardines, seafood rice and finally a caramel coulant with tangerine ice cream, which is the best dessert I've ever had. The black coffee is delicious too. The kindness of the people who treated us was ten. Our table was not free when we arrived and we were treated to a wine while we waited. Excellent.“

“One of the best seafood dinners, ever.
Dear local friends recommended Majára. What a gem. Ambience is classy, a place to have a nice family dinner, a date or a fabulous time with friends who appreciate excellent food. No dress code detected, but do your best to make it a special time. This is a nice restaurant that takes care of every detail!
Greeter, waiter were very friendly. Augustin, our waiter, was funny, energetic, very knowledgeable, professional and courteous. His recommendations were spot on. Timing and rhythm of service was perfect, and no interruptions to our family chat.
On to the food. We eat excellent seafood regularly. Majára is among the top. Jumbo grilled shrimp was very tasty, added butter made an explosive party of taste in my mouth. The seafood platter was very generous, with plenty of shrimp, crab, prawns, persebe (barnacle) that were juicy, expertly prepared, tasty and incredibly fresh. Our waiter made an excellent pairing with local Vino Verdhe and showed us the fresh jumbo camarao. Salmon plate was also very tasty and a great option for those in your party that prefer fish over mariscos. Bread was freshly baked and buttery.
Creme Brule toped the night, but the star of the show was the incredible seafood platter.
Thank you team Majára. We will be back!“

“The average prices didn't match what we saw in the comments here on Google, I don't know if it was because it was a Mother's Day menu or if the prices are no longer the same, but the food is totally worth it. The food is delicious! The starter was a stuffed crab that was so good I didn't even have time to take photos hahaha, wonderful squid and prawn skewer. Dessert elevated the experience until the end. The customer service is very friendly, I will definitely be back.“

“Chose this place amongst all the other seafood restaurants along the street as it had a large patio and the shortest wait list. So glad we did as the food was so fresh and delicious! We had grilled sardines, squid and garlic potatoes, and a bottle of wine. Hands down the best value for money meal we had during our trip. Highly recommended.“

“High quality food, fresh and well prepared ingredients.
Less positive points, some somewhat inconvenient comments were made during the service regarding customers' diet options at the table and it was necessary to correct the bill because there were extra amounts to be charged.“

“This was a good surprise. We were walking to the beach and when passing this restaurant decided to stop for lunch. First let me say the prices here are a bit more expensive than an average restaurant but this is definitely no average restaurant. The staff were amazing and extremely knowledgeable and helpful. The seafood was fresh and delicious with many choices. The service was excellent. We found that although it was a bit more than we normally pay for lunch it was worth it and we definitely would go back. Amazing seafood definitely worth trying.“

“Local only restaurant, no tourists but us. Menu in Portuguese and cursive so had to guess what we wanted without really knowing what it was. Food was phenomenal. Fresh well done fish. Service was amazing. We were sitting outside and it was windy and cold and the owner brought us blankets and gave me his personal coat to wear to stay warm. Our server was incredibly sweet and funny and made our visit memorable. Overal 10/10.“

“Herois de França street is full of grilled fish restaurants. Where they put the ember in the middle of the street, from a distance you can recognize its characteristic smell. I would say Titus II is one of the best. The fish is excellent as is the service.“

“Without a doubt some of the best seafood I've ever had and likely will ever have. Super convenient location coming off of the cruise ship, just a short walk from the port gate. Great service and great food. Our server offered us some Portuguese ham and we ordered the sea bass plus some shrimp as a starter.“

“Very nice place, local. steak was made a perfect medium rare and was very tasty, and they were very generous with side dishes and bread, potato chips were chunky, unlike the crisps you usually get here in other places. I even had 2 ice teas and only paid 11€.“
“Restaurant São Valentim is a great option for anyone looking to experience traditional Portuguese cuisine in a charming and cozy . The restaurant offers a variety of traditional Portuguese dishes, such as grilled octopus, bacalhau (codfish), and francesinha (a typical Porto sandwich). The food is prepared with fresh, local ingredients and is presented in a beautiful and appetizing way. Portugal is known for its delicious wines, and São Valentim is no exception. The restaurant offers a wide selection of Portuguese wines, including Vinho Verde and Port wine. The staff are knowledgeable and can help you choose the perfect wine to pair with your meal. Despite its high-quality food and excellent wine selection, Restaurant São Valentim is relatively affordable, making it a great choice for budget-conscious travelers.“

“Excellent food and attention! The gentleman who served us made our experience excellent. Our table was already ready, with different breads and they asked us if we wanted mini starters, which were very good. In addition, we ordered a grilled fish for 2 people and a white wine, both recommended by the same gentleman who served us, and it was the best choice. The grill full of flavor, lots of fish and seafood. The price/quality ratio 10 out of 10. We were surprised! When we are in Porto we will definitely return!“

“??Another great neighborhood find! This time an excellent seafood restaurant. But they offer the items as well. A very posh looking place inside with a long bar extending the length of downstairs.
The service was excellent friendly and so welcoming from Moona (sp) she was very patient and spoke great English. Great house vino verde, to accompany awesome just what I was in the mood for seafood.
Simply fabulous.

“What I admire most in a restaurant is the service, and I must say that this one was impeccable. It is a family restaurant; we were served by Mr Joao and his son. When paying the bill we also met the wife. I really liked the food; We went on a perfect sunny Sunday. We love it!“

“It was our first time in Porto and we were told 5 Oceans was the best seafood around, we were not disappointed! The food and atmosphere were amazing!!!! Our waiter was named Francisco and he was so kind and knowledgeable of the menu, he made an amazing dinner into an amazing experience. We can’t wait to return and see Francisco again.“
“What a great surprise! We were told to eat in Matosinhos but it was very quiet - maybe as it was Sunday? When we wandered into the restaurant there was only one couple there (not a good sign) . Our elderly waiter looked sooo stern but ended up being just perfect … guiding us through the menu (he spoke NO English) and making the best recommendations. We had the fish soup (best in Portugal!!! …and we’ve tasted a lot) and a fish dish he recommended (see photo). Dessert was ok (nothing special ). We also had a bottle of wine. The fish was absolutely delicious, great value for money and the chef checked on us a few times. Highly recommended!!!“

“We had a wonderful dining experience here last night. The owner & staff were attentive and helpful.
They gave me a gooseneck barnacle to try when they saw me looking at the seafood display, & were very understanding that we didn’t speak Portuguese. Instead, they did their best to communicate in English & it was a lovely, friendly exchange.
We had clams (briny, succulent) with buttery grilled toast, seafood rice (stuffed with seafood with a delicate fresh tomato base) & housewine (crisp, balance & a generous pour).
The portions were so generous we barely finished, & the total bill came to just €60 for 2 diners. What a great value experience that I’d recommend without hesitation.
Take the time to find this slightly hidden restaurant. It is cosy inside and popular with locals.
Thank you team Fernando, for giving me a wonderful memory of Oporto??“

“Well prepared and healthy food (low salt). We were 5 people and we ate fried petingas, fritters and fried garlic shrimp for starters (there were no barnacles that day). A 1.8kg sea bass for 4 people and hake fillets for 1 person. 2 bottles of sparkling wine, half a bottle of Quinta do Valado and 2 large bottles of water. A cream milk to share (I didn't have enough belly for more).
It didn't reach 200 euros.
Friendly and attentive staff.“

“We had a fantastic lunch here on a day tour of Porto and the fishing villages. We had cod fritters, grilled dourada (dorado) and mixed vegetables. The service in this family-owned restaurant was extremely attentive. The atmosphere was relaxed. The food delicious, especially the fish - grilled whole over coals, seasoned only with salt and boned at the tableside.“

Much obrigado to Dani, who made us feel very comfortable during the meal.

“Get the bus or tram and enjoy the views on the way out to Matosinhos. The boats come in yards away, the fish is delivered to the kitchen, and you get to eat the freshest catch- of the- day. O Tubarão is a family run business and though staff don’t speak much English ( why should they?) we understood each other perfectly. You’re there to eat fish so don’t bother straying from the dorado, hake, cod or squid, and of course, the sardines. Wine is by the half or full bottle. The “cover” might arrive unasked-for, bread, olives, and seafood pâté. Eat it and thank me later. Muito obrigado por tudo. x“

“Fresh fish displayed at the entrance and a fire pit next to the road where they will be roasted. Nice atmosphere, friendly service. Prices in line with other restaurants in the region (around 55.00 per kilo), sardines (12.00), side dishes, desserts, etc. Lunch without wine, around 40.00 euros per person.“

“To access the restaurant, just exit the restaurant street (R Heróis de França).
Fresh fish from the sea and other Atlantic delicacies. Try the seasonal seafood. As it is a restaurant with a family atmosphere, but with a small room and a new room set up on the sidewalk, at peak times it is difficult to get good service, so I recommend sitting down early (12:30pm) or making a reservation.
Suggestion: for starters you can order grilled garlic bread. Then a grilled sea bass that can be accompanied by mashed potatoes, but also goes well with naughty greens rice or tomato rice. For dessert, a creamy milk.
With these options it is easy to become a customer.
Toilet area and bathroom decorated with sea motifs.
With WIFI available. Reasonable access for people with reduced mobility.
Free parking at the auction – ask for your parking ticket when leaving the restaurant.

It was so delicious we ate every last bite. The fish was paired with roasted potatoes and veggies and we washed it down with a delicious white wine that was recommended to pair with the fish. “Super nice restaurant! We were looking to eat fish and came across this restaurant in the market. We ate in the evening so not the same concept as lunch which allows customers to choose the fish directly from the market and then who prepares it! Truly original!

I highly recommend !!“
“Recently visited with my sister, after coming across this place by chance we booked a meal for a evening, and we wasn’t disappointed, the service was outstanding, the staff all knew their stuff and would recommend food, sides and puddings, I had the lamb and it was the best lamb I have ever had!! “Loved this restaurant. It's a popular restaurant during lunch. The staff try their best to serve everyone as efficiently as possible. So ?. Food was excellent. We had the salad, grilled fish, squid (half portion) and a bottle of white wine. They were grilled to perfection. Not overly salty. At the start, we chose not to have the bread, bitter and olives as these were chargeable. For 2 persons, we were more than filled since each dish came with potatoes. This restaurant doesn't serve clams, mussels or prawns. But we saw their grilled Sardines other diners ordered and they looked perfectly grilled (sigh ... we couldn't eat so much). It's a must if your group is bigger. One final note....they do not accept card.“

The wait was only a little long, but it was worth it. The service was excellent, and the waiter made sure we got everything we needed. We ended the lunch with a delicious flan. By the end, we were practically licking our plates. It was a nice, calm atmosphere, and it was a perfect lunch. I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves seafood and even those who don’t!“

“??Wandering the beach on a cool Sunday. Decided to get some fresh fish in the row of eateries. This place takes only CASH so bring a few euros. But because I bookmarked it we gave it a try.
Friendly informal place. We decided on octopus two ways. The grilled one was a little over cooked. But still tasty. We shared a pitcher of house vino verde. My wife loves ALHEIRA, so she added that too.
The table next got the tiger prawn skewer. A great show but a bit pricey.
