“We used viamichelin website for a restaurant in Porto and found Apego.It was a good decision to go here, we enjoyed it very much. We took the 5 course tasting menu with pairing wines. Each course we found very tasteful, with the pairing wine further elevating the flavors. To us the key world was balance. Each course fitted nicely with the predecessing course. The crew was very nice, taking time to explain every dish and wine in both Portugese and (perfect) English and making us feel at home. A place we certainly recommend as the people here understand what tasting and pairing means!”

The crinkle cut fries are also an American favorite. Behind the counter and in the kitchen is a mom and son and others. It's so good and so well done I know they'll reach thier goal of opening other stores.”

After going to similar restaurants (i.e. Omakase Ri in Lisbon) or even comparing it with real Izakayas in Japan, I have to confess they have a lot to do in terms of receiving guest, turning the meal into an experience, keep the environment (sushimans talk loudly to the costumers they are serving at a specific moment) and maintain food rounds in a carrousel of flavours that starts smooth and end up blowing minds. I find the 65euros menu price acceptable, but probably i would get out hangry if they wouldn't had served bread along with the last course before desert - furthermore, at the initial approach in the restaurant they talk a lot about such a bread, elevating the expectations, but it end ups being a bit of a disapointment. I also have to say their kind of Izakaya was overall really good as they manage quite well the "spicy" and "salty" flavours that are not so common in Japanese cousine. Congrats for the innovation but please revise house rules and guest service. Cheers”

“We came to the Lagostim restaurant yesterday afternoon... the meal was so good that it would have been a crime not to go there a second time. Returning the next evening, we were able to see again the quality of the dishes. Serious and pleasant service, and what you find on the plate is just as pleasant. Between the octopus and prawn cataplana, the sautéed shrimp, not to mention the grilled sea bass and clams à la Bulhão Pato (if you have to choose a starter... this one is to die for): it's hard to doubt the quality of the ingredients and the authenticity of the cuisine. For an authentically Portuguese meal with a setting that matches the same, we can only recommend Lagostim. It is more than certain that we will come back during our next stays in Porto, and I advise you to do the same!”

“I popped in for a coffee but was giddy with surprise that there was fresh fruit bowl on menu - how often does that happen. And it wasn't just apples and oranges. Menu has plenty of plant based options. Pancakes, acai, bagels, toast, comfort bowls, salads, Burgers and desserts. Even a healthy bounty.”

FOOD:
- The food here is top class, with incredible attention to detail in every dish. I highly recommend the Steak with Queijo da Serra (Serra Cheese) and the Duck Magret with Porto Wine Sauce. Both dishes are exceptionally delicious, boasting a premium taste that is hard to find elsewhere. My friends had the Cod with Cornbread and mentioned that it was excellent as well.
- As for drinks, we enjoyed the White Sangria, which was delightful. The Porto Wine served after the meal was also a perfect finish. Next time, I’ll definitely try a Red Wine to complement the meal.
- For dessert, I would suggest trying the Crème Brûlée and the Portuguese Biscuit Cake; both were great!

SERVICE:
- The service was superb. Everyone was friendly, positive, and very relaxed, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Miss Beatriz, our server, did an excellent job, ensuring that we had everything we needed and felt well taken care of.

ATMOSPHERE:
- The atmosphere was, in my opinion, the best part of the experience. The environment was quiet and peaceful, allowing us to have a conversation without any loud disturbances. It was a wonderfully cozzy and relaxed setting where we could comfortably hear each other. The only suggestion I have is to add a fan or air conditioning, although the fresh air from outside was quite refreshing.

Overall, this was a 10/10 experience, and we will definitely be back.

“Traditional tavern or bar, noisy and with atmosphere, with attentive, fast, friendly and professional waiters who know what they are doing. Of the food, highlight their specialty, the cachorrinhos', they are addictive with their spicy touch and their combination of ingredients. A simple dish that doesn't need anything else! We didn't like the 'francesihna' sauce as much, it could have been spicier and with a lighter flavor, it seemed a little artificial to me. If the fries were homemade, they would be perfect to accompany the 'cachorrinhos'. We waited half an hour for dinner but it was worth it. Don't forget to try them if you have the opportunity.”
