Vale a pena a visita. Como pontos menos positivos: 1. O acesso.

“Food is good but it took a bit too long to be served. Our francesinha had almost no gravy and when we asked for more we waited to long that we just ended up eating it dry, with no gravy at all. The atmosphere is loud. It’s nice but it used to be better.“

“Delicious food at this typical Portuguese restaurant. We shared two main courses together and they were both very tasty. The meat of the Prego was really the highlight, very tender. They serve the 'Portuguese toasted sandwich' here, which is definitely worth a try. The tomato sauce in particular is very special and delicious. The fries served here are different from Dutch fries. A little weaker and thinner, but no less tasty. I especially liked the chips served at the Prego.Watch out for additional costs. At the beginning of the evening, a plate with small snacks was placed on our table. These were also very tasty, but we had to pay 10 euros extra for them afterwards. Now we had already discovered this after looking at the menu and we thought it was worth the price. However, if you want to pay attention to the costs, you could also politely decline this. The staff was friendly and the service was very fast.“

“The best restaurant with friendly staff who make you feel warmly welcomed, and chef-owner Sofia who serves delicious dishes and continually takes care of customers. The taste, quantity, and cost-effectiveness are all good.It was by far the best memory of my trip to Porto. This place does not always have the same menu, and it is said that the menu of the day is decided after going to the market each day to source fresh ingredients. Today's menu is divided into seafood (white fish, octopus, etc.) and meat (beef, pork, chicken, etc.). Today's menu was explained kindly and in detail in English. The grilled white fish called Dourada, recommended by the staff, was really delicious. Be sure to try it. The beef steak (bill cutlet) was well-made for the price and had a clean taste.I heard that they make their own dessert cake, so I ordered an orange chocolate cake and it was really delicious. You must try this too.Be sure to stop by if you cross the Luis Bridge and head towards Villanova de Gaia!Obrigado por tornar agradável o início e o fim da nossa viagem ao Porto!“

“We woke up in New England, caught an overnight plane to Lisbon, took a subway, took a train to Porto, took the metro to Vila Nova da Gaia where we are staying, all in a 26 hour period with no sleep and one of us (a vegetarian) recovering from a broken ankle. This place is right down the street from where we are staying and I had scoped it out online prior to our trip. I'm incredibly thankful for the short walk, and am blown away by how good the food is. The service was wonderful, they gave us vegan pastries to take with us so we could get the whole experience. We all got the francesinhas and even non vegans or non vegetarians would love this. Best vegetarian meal I've had in Portugal yet.“

“Had a lovely evening meal in this attractive restaurant. We went here for dinner on a Tuesday evening, we didn't have a reservation, and it was quite full. We were allowed to sit at a smaller table, but if a window table became available, we could go there. 10 minutes later that was already the case, and we were able to enjoy the sunset. The service really deserves 5 stars. Very friendly, good and quick help. Super nice staff, which really affects the entire atmosphere of the restaurant. The food was also absolutely great. We had sangria, two main courses and two desserts for 30 euros. Perfect price-quality ratio if you ask me.We will definitely come back here again!“

“Wow, wow, wow!!! This place is AMAZING, Ricardo one of the partners here is charming, passionate, and just an overall welcoming soul and wants you to enjoy the food from his chef and kitchen. All of his recommendations were spot on, and he welcomed us "home" before our meal which we knew this meant we were in for a dining experience like no other. Just a walk around the corner from Graham's Porto Lodge, and a must try if you are in Gaia.“

“Authentic Portuguese restaurant. Local dishes written on chalkboard and staff so friendly that bring you a dish from the kitchen to show you whats on the menu... so, no language barrier. I really recommend if you want to experience home meal in Porto. On top of that, I got the soup first, bottled watter and some dessert (from supermarket tho) that I didnt order, but was complementary. I paid all of that 7.5€. At least that was the bill. I paid more ofc...“

“It's not noticeable because it's not near the river, but if you look a little closer, you can find it, and it's excellent value for money. (It is an outdoor restaurant right next to Mercardo Beira-Bio)Menu: Beer, Porto wine cocktail, fried sardines, cod croquette + bread, olives (the menu names are written in Korean)1. The price is cheaper than other stores, but the taste is not inferior. You can order small quantities of cod croquettes or fried sardines, so we tried them once and liked them so much that we were able to order more.2. Like most tourists in Porto, the staff are friendly and the food is served quickly.3. Other tables ordered different menus for lunch, so it would be nice to visit for a meal.I would like to emphasize this once again, but I think this restaurant has the best value for money in the area.Je pense que ce brasserie a le prix-qualité. L’ambiance, les gens accueillants et le gôut, tout étais bon!“

“I was positively surprised by the restaurant. The facade doesn't attract attention, but it has a spacious, cozy atmosphere and, of course, delicious food. My husband ordered pasta and I ordered fish. Everything is delicious. The pizzas that passed by us looked appetizing. Dessert was no exception. Prices are not the cheapest nor the most expensive. I highly recommend it and will be back soon.“

“My name is Darkhom, I'm Brazilian and I was in Gaia in 2012. I lived next to Dr. Café. Wonderful and welcoming place. I became friends with Dona Inês and her son, José Manoel... I even spent Christmas 2012 with them, as a result of the friendship I made by going to the café every day. Dona Inês has a refined taste, she is a great artist and all the things she serves are very delicious. I miss you a lot. Rating 1000. Hugs to everyone if they are still the same administrators.“

“AT CAFÉ HJP THE FOOD IS HOMEMADE AND IS VERY TASTY FROM THE MEAT DISHES, FISH, AND SNACKS. FRANCESIES ETC... MADE BY TWO COOKS, THE SERVICE IS GENERALLY CARRIED OUT ATTENTIVELY, WITH A LEVEL OF SPEED AND EFFICIENCY CARRIED OUT BY ITS EMPLOYEES. IT IS A CAFÉ WHERE A GREAT FRIENDSHIP IS CREATED BETWEEN THE OWNERS AND CUSTOMERS. I RECOMMEND CAFÉ HJP FOR BREAKFASTS, LUNCHES, SNACKS, FISHING OR DINNER WITH GROUPS OF FRIENDS OR WITH FAMILY.“

“Excellent mixed toast and toast. The best in Gaia and surroundings (now I want to join Trigo Douro bakery), the famous warm padas with butter are heaven on earth, excellent quality coffee. They also have homemade food, especially codfish Braga style, wonderful bifanas and divine francesinhas, as well as excellent cheese and sausage boards. Sometimes you may have to wait a little while, but it's well worth it for the quality of the meals.“

“Excellent place to eat the best francesinha in Porto and the surrounding area...perhaps in the world, perfectly tender, perfectly cooked meat. "Everything was done with lots of love" and I believe it was. Friendliness from the moment we entered until we left, perfect table, excellent wines, although beer is the best option. I recommend the traditional francesinha“

“Great place to experience local vibes and delicious food with friendly staff! My husband and I went to have dinner. It seems like they are focusing on breakfast and lunch more. Almost all the menu options were gone already when we sat down. Still, we were lucky enough to have a steak plate and a Francesinha. The owner proudly recommended the Francesinha and I have to say that he has all the rights to be proud of!! It was so good. Fries are missing in the picture. The steak plate was also good and it had nice combination with sausages, jamons. Accompaniment options were either rice & salad or Potato & bread if I remember correctly. Price was good with big portions. I couldn't finish my plate which was a shame. Anyway, try here! I would go for a breakfast or lunch next time.“

“Beautiful place where you can taste the famous cod pie and port wine. It is expensive, €5 for a cake filled with cheese, and €10 for a glass of wine that you can take back as a souvenir. In my opinion it is totally worth it, it is an experience that you have to live if you go to Porto next to the river and with the venue with live music it is beautiful. On the upper floor there are seats to eat there while listening to the organ. A magical place“
“Such a great location with great food and service. The deviled eggs were amazing. They had a nice little kick, without it being too much. We also ordered the lobster mac and the grits that came with scallops and shrimp. I can't wait to return.“

“A typical Portuguese "Tasca" in Gaia, the familiar and welcoming atmosphere lives up to the name of this space. Despite not having a modern atmosphere, this den will delight you with another francesinha queen in the oven, to which Vila Nova de Gaia became famous for adapting the traditional francesinha style. Waiting for the batch can be accompanied by typical olives and when it's time to fill your belly you will enjoy an extremely smooth and delicate sauce.“

“Went here for a lunch, we had to wait a bit since we had no reservation and it gets quite crowded for lunch time. It is a traditional looking restaurant. Service was fast and mostly efficient, so basically no issues there. In terms of food we had some light cheese and olive oil appetizers which were good. For the main dish we had some very good sea bass with potatoes and vegetables in usual Portuguese style. We also drank their own white wine which was good, nothing special though. In total a very good place to visit with good food and prices that are not high at all.“
“The food and atmosphere is nice, but it is overpriced. We had no idea that starters will cost so much, as when we usually ask for the starters we don't look at the menu. And more of that, one spoon of olive oil cost us 2.60, and when we asked a bit more we were charged again 2.60, never happened in any portuguese restaurant, even the highest class. Very disappointed and will not go back.“
“The food and owners are wonderful! No menu. Different home cooked Portuguese food every day. Lots of hearty food with good wine and very reasonably priced. If you want home cooked style Portuguese food, nothing fancy served by very warm friendly people, this is the place to go.“

“Traditional Portuguese restaurant with quality service. As soon as we arrived we had a table reserved with very good starters. We had the house's spiced {wood-fired French} dinner and loved it. The only problem we encountered was the heat that was felt, which in some ways made this experience less good. Maybe air conditioning or even a fan would help a bit.Despite this, we loved it and hope to return.“

“This place is amazing! The atmosphere is great, all the decorations inside are just in place, very cosy and home-like! I like the coffee and at least everything I tried from their menu was very tasty. But the killer-feature for me are the table games that they have. 100% recommend!“
“After being a café customer for a few years, I finally tried the Francesinha and the dog and they are both the best you can eat, from the products to the sauce. Excellent and careful service and even at take away (we took one of the francesinhas home) they send the cheese to melt and give instructions on the best way to make it at home. Homemade desserts and great customer care. To not lose. I raised the rating to 5*“

“I come to share my opinion about the restaurant "1828". A space that undoubtedly raises the city’s gastronomic standards. From the moment we entered, we were warmly welcomed by the attentive and professional team. The restaurant's atmosphere is sophisticated and welcoming, with elegant decor that creates a refined and inviting atmosphere. The well-thought-out lighting perfectly complements the dining experience. As for the cuisine, we were truly impressed with the excellence of the dishes offered. The cuts of meat are of exceptional quality, prepared with mastery and served with delicious accompaniments that enhance the flavors of the ingredients. Each dish is a true work of art, prepared with care and attention to detail - congratulations to the chef (Silvina) and her entire team for their commitment to excellence in every aspect of the customer experience. In short, 1828 is more than just a restaurant - it's a complete dining experience that combines exceptional cuisine, impeccable service and enchanting ambience to create a truly unforgettable evening. I highly recommend this restaurant to all meat lovers looking for a high quality experience.“
“An absolutely amazing dinner at one of the hidden jewels of the traditional food from the “Trás-os-Montes” province! Greeted with a smile by the super professional and friendly staff, I was taken to the table and then got a tour to the outstanding wine cellar. I was amazed by the selection of wines from all over the world! After seating everyone, the food show started! From starters - the cold cuts and cheeses, the veal patty, the grilled chouriço, the wild boar stew and the “rojões” with chestnut were divine!! Then we move to the main dishes… and was amazing food they were!! From the Lamb chops, the “migas”, the beef and the unique cod with “alheira” we’re to die for! Everything was cooked to perfection, well seasoned and super tasty!! To finish we had a mix of desserts, including the famous turnips pudding. Yes, you read it correctly! Turnips pudding!! Amazing!!! It’s HIGHLY RECOMMENDED but be prepared to be eating for some hours as you will not want to leave!!“
“The pastel is a bit deeper than others, so the crust to me is a little less crispy and the filling a bit too runny. But for the prices, it is so inexpensive! I had a pastel, a croissant and an expresso and it costs $2.55 euros! Absolute bargain, would definitely come to try other items as well“
