“This was a highlight of our trip to Ottawa! It was difficult to find a good variety of gluten free options downtown. The Orange Turtle was amazing! They had multiple gluten free cookies to choose from as well as many other yummy gluten treats. The mango cranberry banana bread was delicious. The owner was very kind and friendly as we enjoyed chatting with him. The coffee was also very good. We will be going back here next time we are in Ottawa.“

“I came across the bakery years ago but didn’t have a reason to ever order, until now. I walked in last Wednesday and met the owners they were great, I was looking for a larger cake 23+ people and on short notice. Not only did they accommodate they gave me a couple suggestions and the finished product looked amazing and tasted phenomenal. It was definitely a crowd pleaser. “Thimble Cakes is an eclectic bakery that offers vegan ice cream and a variety of baked goods. I had two cupcakes: carrot cake and brookie. For being gluten-free, both were incredibly moist. Also, the frosting on top was creamy and light. I would definitely return for some ice cream or anything from their extensive amount of baked goods.“

I'm happy to say that it was perfect for me. It's less sweet that the typical cookies from a supermarket. But it's not so low in sugars that it's diabetic friendly.“

“A hidden gem! Don't let the size of this place fool you, the flavours are BIG and it is one of the best bakeries in Ottawa.
There is so much to like about this place, their breakfast croissant sandwiches are one of the top favorites in Ottawa. The lunch pizza focaccia are to die for with usually 3 options, a vegetarian, meat and a vegan choice - my favorite is the vegetarian.
And don't get me started on the scones and sweets, we haven't had one yet that we were disappointed with. My favorite is the Apple Granola Scone.“

While I was waiting the lady let me sample a sweet she just finished from where she came from; it was so good. So ya the bakery side is a must try. “Such a cozy little spot! We stopped in for tea and roll cake, and both were delicious — fresh, light, and full of flavour. The place has a wonderfully warm vibe, with a samovar, flowers, and even a lavender candle adding to the atmosphere. You can really tell everything is made with love.

They also had a gorgeous selection of desserts, including Iranian baklava and some unique cheesecakes (the lavender-lime and toranj looked incredible!). Definitely a place I’ll be returning to whenever I’m in the mood for great pastries and a relaxing atmosphere.“

“I have been going to Golden Baguette for about 10 years now! Everything is fresh and tasty with great prices. The owners are a lovely couple always greeting me with a warm smile. My go-to is their Wonton soup! It's so yummy and filling! I live in the east end but my offices are only a 10-minute walk from their location, so i was worried that the pandemic might force them to close but luckily, they are still the best hidden gem on Bank Street! Depending on my work schedule I go there once or twice a week because I crave their comfort food! I LOVE Golden Baguette!!“
