“Went there twice and was pleasantly surprised. I had the vegan Vietnamese crepe the first time & the vegan soup the second time. It was delicious each time.
They have an open kitchen so you can see, hear, smell your good being made which is part of the experience.

“Premier essai aujourd'hui pour deux : on a pris la soupe Pho Tai #10 et le poulet sauté à la citronnelle #33 et c'était vraiment trop bon. Le boeuf de la pho est vraiment tendre et les saveurs du #33 étaient immédiatement excellentes et au dessus de nos attentes à la première bouchée. Ils ont probablement le meilleur poulet citronnelle de Montréal, voir du Québec.“

“My family and I were drawn to this restaurant when we walked past it and the aroma coming from it practically dragged us in there, and unsurprisingly, the food here did NOT disappoint. The pho and the crispy noodles were the best I've ever tried and for an amazing price. If I ever come by to montreal again, I will no doubt stop by Pho Bac again, it was truly the highlight of my trip!“

“Great location! Generous portion.amazing quality. Had to try multiple things all I can say I was satisfied and FULL af!! Never forget a great iced coffee yummmy!! “Delicious and one of the yummiest finds in Montreal. Cash only but with huge portions. Any order of the noodles will come with sides of the braised pork legs with bones if called in beforehand for free. Love the broth, the meat and the spring rolls which reminds me so much of my aunt’s back in Southeast asia!“

“It's my first time in this place, I was impressed by everything!!! Furnishings, service, food and drinks. A very unusual roll with shrimp and mint in rice parchment . We will definitely try the soup next time . Very friendly staff, despite the large number of visitors, we did not wait and the service was excellent.“

“I finally had time to write this. Since I really liked the seafood dish with crispy noodless from Nguyen Phi on CDN, that unfortunately was closed, we decided to go in and try it here, thinking that the experience could be similar. We were 3 at the table. We also ordered a third dish with shrimps, beef and chicken.
Without a doubt, the seafood, with noodless, as a whole, was better in the Nguyen Phi. There, the sauce was more flavorful, well seasoned. Richer and thicker. Here, it was like water.
As for the other dish, it was generally good, but according to my table companion, the shrimps were dry. So much so that he had a hard time removing them from the toothpick.
The service time was average. Nice atmosphere and clean place. Next time, I might try their Pho.“

“Très belle soirée de fête de retraite hier soir! Menu de groupe très abordable et vraiment delicieux. Nourriture gouteuse et généreuse! Propriétaire tellement gentille et sympathique. Elle s'est montrée très disponible pour l'organisation de la soirée et à concocté un menu de groupe selon nos attentes et avait même prévu des Plats pour les personnes vegetariennes! Un gros merci! “We had an early dinner here on a Sunday. We almost didn’t go in at first because it was completely empty but in the end we walked in and had a meal. We both got the beef pho with rare and brisket beef flank. IT WAS AWESOME. Pho is one of our favourite dishes and one that we’ve learned to essentially judge restaurants by. This place had absolutely delicious broth, perfectly tender noodles, lots of high quality beef, and a bountiful fixings. Also, the owner was super nice, and the room, while basic, had comfortable banquets. So you should do yourself a favour and get a nice bowl of noodles here to eat in or take out because one of the better noodle shops in the country is sitting right here in Montreal. Who knew?“

“Great neighborhood restaurant. I have been passing by since I moved into the area and was not disappointed once I decided to step in.
Our meal started with the imperial rolls (cha gio) and the papaya salad (without beef). The rolls were in my opinion the star of the night; generously filled and simply delicious. These are the imperial rolls you always hope for but rarely get. The papaya salad was fresh and well dressed - not spicy as their Thai counterpart usually is.
We followed our meal with bahn xeo - a crispy Vietnamese omelette/crêpe that was filled with chicken and a generous amount of bean sprouts, and Bun Cha Hanoi. The airy and crispy texture of the crepe is addictive to say the least and very enjoyable. The grilled bun cha meat was also very tasty!
In sum, Y Lan is a great restaurant where you can be sure to enjoy a great meal with great service.

“The food here is amazing and authentic. What I like about this vietnamese restaurant compared to many is the fact they serve some odd but authentic food that other places don't often serve, like the blood sausage accompanied with the spicy shrimp paste sauce. It's very delicious

“I had the grilled pork with rice. The taste was spot on when compared to the better local Vietnamese restaurants. The price was reasonable too.
They can improve on 2 items
1) in the meat dish, the pork chops were very thin. Almost hot pot meat thickness. Doubling the thickness and adjusting the price would make sense. It shows the effort they spent to cut the chops so thin
2) we sat in the middle aisle. During a cold day, the cold air rushes in and some of the guests kept their coats on while eating their food. I don't think they can do too much now. In hindsight, the pair of double doors should have been installed with an offset.“
