“Went there twice and was pleasantly surprised. I had the vegan Vietnamese crepe the first time & the vegan soup the second time. It was delicious each time.

They have an open kitchen so you can see, hear, smell your good being made which is part of the experience.

“My mom and I had come to this place and ordered the pho, and pork chop. The food and the service were wonderful and tasty. The atmosphere was that there were people in the restaurant eating, talking, waiters taking orders, and many other things.“

“Premier essai aujourd'hui pour deux : on a pris la soupe Pho Tai #10 et le poulet sauté à la citronnelle #33 et c'était vraiment trop bon. Le boeuf de la pho est vraiment tendre et les saveurs du #33 étaient immédiatement excellentes et au dessus de nos attentes à la première bouchée. Ils ont probablement le meilleur poulet citronnelle de Montréal, voir du Québec.“

“This is my favourite Village restaurant. Their food is so fresh and delicious, and their prices are very fair. They pull this off despite having a huge menu. Their sushi is my favourite but their bahn mi and poke bowls are great as well.

It’s mainly a takeout restaurant, even if you sit down you’re getting your food in takeout containers. If you want a more formal experience I’d recommend other places, but if you care about getting the best tasting sushi THIS is the spot.“

“Delicious hu tiu nam vang at a great price. The tea that is brought to the table when you first sit down is lovely and tastes like pandan. The restaurant was totally full when we walked in but tables turn over quickly. We were in and out in around 40min. Will definitely return when in Montreal again“

“It's my first time in this place, I was impressed by everything!!! Furnishings, service, food and drinks. A very unusual roll with shrimp and mint in rice parchment . We will definitely try the soup next time . Very friendly staff, despite the large number of visitors, we did not wait and the service was excellent.“

“Pho Bac 97 has always been one of my favorite spots whenever I visit Montreal. It is right in Chinatown, which made it really easy to get to since our hotel was only a few minutes away.

The people here are honestly the best part. The owner, the male staff, and Hannah were so sweet and welcoming. They made us feel at home right away and it’s clear they can connect with anyone because they switch so easily between English, French, Vietnamese, Chinese, and probably even more languages. That kind of warmth really makes a difference.

We ordered two Pho Dac Biet XL bowls and one Bi Cuon roll, and with taxes and tip it came to around $50 for the two of us. The food was comforting, flavorful, and authentic. As someone who is part Vietnamese, I really appreciate when a restaurant captures those traditional flavors, and this one absolutely does. At the end they even gave us fortune cookies, which was such a simple but thoughtful little touch.

I’ll be honest, there is a strong smell around the bathroom area that can be a bit distracting, maybe from the age of the building or cleaning issues, but it didn’t take away from how kindly we were treated.

“I finally had time to write this. Since I really liked the seafood dish with crispy noodless from Nguyen Phi on CDN, that unfortunately was closed, we decided to go in and try it here, thinking that the experience could be similar. We were 3 at the table. We also ordered a third dish with shrimps, beef and chicken.

Without a doubt, the seafood, with noodless, as a whole, was better in the Nguyen Phi. There, the sauce was more flavorful, well seasoned. Richer and thicker. Here, it was like water.
As for the other dish, it was generally good, but according to my table companion, the shrimps were dry. So much so that he had a hard time removing them from the toothpick.
The service time was average. Nice atmosphere and clean place. Next time, I might try their Pho.“

“Located along TransCanada near Jarry, it's a tiny family-run Vietnamese Pho House that serves authentic Vietnamese cuisines, from beef pho to vermicelli to Lemongrass marinated pork chop rice plates, all very yummy. Moreover, the prices are quite reasonable, especially in today's ever escalating inflation, their EXTRA Large bowls of Beef Phos are $15.75CDN. Our party of 10 ordered #8 (Rare brisket, tripes, etc) were delicious, the cold with pork chops were excellent as well

“We had an early dinner here on a Sunday. We almost didn’t go in at first because it was completely empty but in the end we walked in and had a meal. We both got the beef pho with rare and brisket beef flank. IT WAS AWESOME. Pho is one of our favourite dishes and one that we’ve learned to essentially judge restaurants by. This place had absolutely delicious broth, perfectly tender noodles, lots of high quality beef, and a bountiful fixings. Also, the owner was super nice, and the room, while basic, had comfortable banquets. So you should do yourself a favour and get a nice bowl of noodles here to eat in or take out because one of the better noodle shops in the country is sitting right here in Montreal. Who knew?“

“The menu has a great variety of traditional dishes. I ordered the Phở đặc biệt (Special Beef Noodle Soup), and it was one of the best I’ve had outside of Vietnam. The ambiance of the restaurant is cozy and welcoming, with beautiful Vietnamese-inspired decor. The staff was friendly, attentive, and happy to recommend dishes for first-time visitors.

“I ordered chicken and pork sausage banh mi. Very tasty. The sandwich is also bigger than the typical banh mi. I was full after only one, which is not usually the case with other places.

There was only 2 staff, so service was quite long - 15 minutes.m, but there were 6 customers before. I suggest if possible to order in advance before pick up.

The place is small but cozy. You can eat on site also. There are someAsian sauces and noodles sold there also.“

“Great neighborhood restaurant. I have been passing by since I moved into the area and was not disappointed once I decided to step in.

Our meal started with the imperial rolls (cha gio) and the papaya salad (without beef). The rolls were in my opinion the star of the night; generously filled and simply delicious. These are the imperial rolls you always hope for but rarely get. The papaya salad was fresh and well dressed - not spicy as their Thai counterpart usually is.

We followed our meal with bahn xeo - a crispy Vietnamese omelette/crêpe that was filled with chicken and a generous amount of bean sprouts, and Bun Cha Hanoi. The airy and crispy texture of the crepe is addictive to say the least and very enjoyable. The grilled bun cha meat was also very tasty!

In sum, Y Lan is a great restaurant where you can be sure to enjoy a great meal with great service.
