“It's certainly one of the most interesting brunch spots I've ever been! I hadn't checked the vibe or environment beforehand, just checked the menu and saw the ratings.
Went there on a Sunday, busy enough to need to put our name and come back 30 minutes later. When entered, immediately shocked by the contrast between how busy and apparently famous it is, and how...cheap...the interior is? Let's just say the environment don't keep up with how GREAT the food was! Truly interesting menu and flavorful meals.
We tried forest (don't remember the exact name) and the fried chicken salad (again, don't remember the exact name). Both were amazing. Just keep in mind that the fried chicken salad is somewhat sweet because of the honey sauce, but still worth the try.
TL;DR: Was I somewhat shocked by the cheap seats? Yes. Will I ever come back? Yes, at least two more times.“

“We went for my mom’s 95th birthday and they took care of her like a queen. I have been here several times and never disappointed with the food. Price and portion very good. It has a home style feeling. Good coffee not watered down like some breakfast places. I highly recommend this restaurant!“

“This restaurant is one of the hidden gems in Montreal. We found it on a trip here a year ago and came back twice this trip. We have had brunch twice and dinner tonight and it didn't disappoint. The staff here are amazing, every visit makes us think we just had the best server ever. We have never had trouble getting a table here even during very busy times. Ma visite à la succursale du boulevard St-Laurent (coin Ave. Mont-Royal) a été marqué par une chose en particulier; la courtoisie et l’efficacité du service dispensé par un personnel attentif, charmant et très avenant qui tranche misérablement avec une hôtesse qui devrait être affectée, loin des contacts clients, à la plonge! Cette pauvre enfant semble éprise d’une sérieuse neurasthénie pathologique qui, selon moi, mérite une impérieuse attention (médicale ou autre). Malgré mon invitation à ce qu’elle arbore un sourire professionnellement cordial, au risque de nuire à une quelconque gerçure et à compromettre son regard de vaches qui regardent passer des trains, son comportement rédhibitoire s’est ajouté à sa triste prestation. En tant qu’ex-professionnel dans l’industrie hôtelière de luxe, en y songeant bien, cette employée ne mériterait même pas la plonge, mais plutôt la porte. Mais bon, il y a des employeurs qui aiment peut-être ça! Pas moi. Dommage pour les autres formidables employé-e-s de l’établissement; c’est une tache sur une toile blanche.“

“I have been going to Cafe Souvenir for decades. It has always been consistently great even when the ownership changed a few times. While the former concept was fantastic with the passport menu and more choices than you could ever try, I love this current ownership and iteration of the cafe and menu. It’s owner run, so they know what they’re doing and the attention to detail is there. Warm milk with your coffee, omelettes brought straight from the pan, to name a few details I appreciate. They know how to cook; French from France style. So many restaurants in Montreal have gone up in price and down in value. Not Cafe Souvenir! They are doing it well and I highly recommend them. Great, friendly service. One of my regular brunch places.“
