High Cotton is one of the more prestigous locations to enjoy brunch (as well as lunch or dinner) in historic Charleston (note: it's part of the Hall's group of restaurants). At the corner of East Bay and Cumberland, it is comprised of four large rooms three of which have lots of natural sunlight while the fourth is a bar in the interior with dark wood paneling trim. The menu offers a pleasant mix of Southern style brunch classics (Chicken & Waffles, Shrimp & Grits and the like) but you are paying a bit of a premium for the name and location. For our meal, we started with yummy Cinnamon Rolls in a skillet (very taasty and sweet, especially the center portion), then a Brunch Burger (excellent... really like the egg, meat, bacon, cheese and sauce mix togther surrounded by an egg brioche bun...the only way to have a burger), and the Crab Cake Benedict (also very good).Service, as you'd expect, was professional, friendly and on point. We had an additional pleasure to know that we sat in the exact same table as Ryan Gosling and Rachel Adams did in The Notebook (it's the small 2 person round table in the corner facing East Bay and Cumberland Streets). Nice...and we had no clue about it when we arrived, it just so happened. Enjoy!

We went to the bluegrass brunch this morning and beat the crowd by getting there at 10:15. Our wait staff was incredibly attentive and our food was delicious... The breakfast bread when we sat down and sweet potato hash was ?. Definitely enjoyed the pimento cheese grits too! Quite affordable too. We won't consider the music today "bluegrass" but it was nice and not too loud.

Service was great. Menu is seafood heavy. The food is pretty pricey for what you get. I had the swordfish, and it was great, but the portion was not sizable. My wife had the softshell crap, and it wasn’t as crispy as we would have preferred it. Service was impeccable though. This is one of those luxury dining places, and if you aren’t used to that style of dining, it might not be for you. If that makes sense. Drinks were great. She crab soup was perfect.

My favorite restaurant of all time. My husband and I had our wedding reception here in the East Bay room. The staff is always fantastic, the music is always great, the food and drinks are always to die for. Is it cheap? No. Is it worth it? Absolutely 100%, totally yes. FYI please don’t be the person who shows up here in jeans or workout clothing.

Stop in at the bar for their famous burger and truffle fries. A good share while enjoying some evening jazz music.

Excellent dinner! Very pretty dining room. Service quite good! Appetizers good, broiled oysters, carpaccio especially. Smoked duck, Soft shell crab entrees very good. Brussels sprouts side veg served 5. Toffee pudding and pound cake strawberry shortcake delicious. Wine list and wine service exceptional. Our server Paula treated the table to complimentary glasses of bubbles to celebrate a special birthday. Would recommend highly.Dietary restrictions: Very helpful with GF options.

My husband and I had a fantastic dinner at High Cotton. The filet mignon along with the mashed potatoes and asparagus were delicious. The best part of the dinner was the service. We were treated very well and it made the evening feel special. Alpha, one of the managers along with our server, Alicia, were very friendly, knowledgeable about the menu and provided wonderful customer service. The espresso martini was absolutely outstanding and the chocolate Mousse dessert cake was delicious. The ambiance in the restaurant was also perfect. We will definitely be back the next time we are in town!

The service we received this Saturday night was subpar at best. We had 2 different waitresses attending to our table, and since they weren’t communicating with one another, we were asked the same questions by each waitress a couple of minutes apart. So it felt like they were rushing us. Surprisingly neither waitress asked if we wanted another round of drinks until we were done with our entree….mind you we finished our drinks after the appetizers. Our lobster mac and cheese order was lost and it finally came to our table after we got done with our entree. So we sent it back. Overall, the food was good, but the service at this restaurant was the worst compare to our other Charleston dining experiences.

Food and service were perfect. Nice band playing. Great place for brunch! Mimosas with several types of juice. After you eat take a walk through the market.Parking: There’s a garage down the little street right across from the restaurant.

All is exceptional, food and service and the vibe. It would have been 5 star if the server had not taken my signed check from me and checked on the percentage of tip left on there, while we were still sitting there chatting.By the way the duck and snapper were really good.

Went for brunch and it was amazing! Our seat was right by the front window at 11am, our view included the street and the damaged sidewalk but the interior of the restaurant was all proper. I ordered their Irish Iced coffee ($12) which did not have any sugar but it did have delicious Jameson and coffee. I dined on the French toast ($13) that included two thick slices of bread which were almost custardy in the middle with candied nuts between the slices and two long smoked pieces of wonderfully cooked bacon. Divine! I finished every bite and then just wanted to relax on that happy Sunday morning.

Very underwhelmed for the price tag, especially in the New York strip. The service though was 10 out of 10.
