About Volpe's

Volpe's offers an exceptional dining experience with lovely staff and great ambience. The food is on another level, with a steak that was so good, it prompted ordering a second main course, and a flounder that equally blew minds. It is a great value for upscale dining, with impact statements like "Vern’s but for Italian" and "theres no way we got all this for $69."

The tasting menu, though it could turn some off, is an easy pleaser due to its value, portions, and selections. Highlights include ceviche, fried risotto balls, a real Cesar salad, and a deconstructed spaghetti and meatballs. Mains like chicken scallopini and flounder are fantastic. Dessert is a decadent chocolate mousse.

All wine on the menu is the same price, encouraging trying new selections. The space is very loud, normal for tight Charleston spots, but it is a packed and active space. For $69 per person, plus booze and tip, Volpe's is an absolute steal in Charleston and a must-go. The wine selection is good and reasonable, with a suggestion for a cocktail menu to improve the experience. The food is terrific and delicious, with the family style fixed menu being especially enjoyed.

The only thing I don't like is the 70's music playing. Soft, instrumental Italian music would really set the mood. The food and service are always excellent.

I wanted to like this place. But left hungry - I was afraid of this, plus bread is an added charge. To leave a restaurant hungry is a failure. However the food i had was yummy. Just not enough when splitting between 4 people. I don't think this concept will make it. Plus the noise level was off the chart we could not hear each other talk.

Wow, just wow!! From entering the restaurant we were welcomed with smiles. We sat at the bar and it was the best decision we could've made. The waiters explained every meal perfectly and the taste matched! 10/10 would recommend for any family style gathering or nice dinner out on the town.
