“It was an unplanned visit to High Cotton. Our party was very underdressed. The hostess was quite pompous and gave the impression we should go elsewhere. Obviously if it was a planned dinner we would have been well dressed. The food was exceptional. The staff were incredible. But our waiter, Jamal, made our experience very memorable. He made sure we were welcome despite our attire. Jamal and my 11 year old grandson became good friends for the evening. Jamal was impressed with my grandson's order of a pot of mussels in garlic sauce, smoked duck, lobster mac and cheese and strawberry shortcake. Jamal was the highlight of our evening. Our family highly recommend you ask for Jamal if you visit High Cotton. The next visit we will look our finest and definitely ask for Jamal.“

“Yet another great experience at Charleston Grill. We try to come here whenever we visit Charleston. The service is always awesome and the food is great. You get what you pay for... it's not inexpensive. The Crab Cake is always a great appetizer. And the scallops are beautiful prepared. We'll be back!“

“I can confidently say it was one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had! Although we didn’t have a reservation, the staff went above and beyond to accommodate our large party and quickly arranged a lovely table for our group. When we asked for recommendations, our waiter suggested a family-style three-course meal, and we couldn’t be happier with his suggestion! Each course was beautifully presented, and simply delicious. From appetizers to desserts, every dish was crafted with care and creativity. It was a wonderful way to experience the menu and share in the joy of great food together. If you’re ever in the area, do yourself a favor and dine here—you won’t regret it! Thank you for an amazing experience; I can’t wait to return!“

“Bottom line up front: Amazing food and great atmosphere!
I’ve been fans of Kwei Fei since back in the days of their pop ups at The Daily. They’ve always brought the heat (literally) and have been eager to try this new venture, Beautiful South.
Stopped in for Sunday Brunch and it did not disappoint. The char siu fried rice had that familiar wok char and was on point! Also had the char siu bao, salt and pepper pork, and shumai. It brought back memories of dim sum in the Bay Area (big compliment) but without the old lady that gets mad when u don’t like what she has on her cart! ?
Wish I had taken pics, but honestly was too busy eating!“

“Came for an early dinner with some friends before a show and was not disappointed. Located in a little pocket sort of near Hampton Park, expect to spend a minute circling the block to find parking. Renzo is unassuming but light and bright in a corner spot with tables and booths and a normal bar. We were early enough for unexpected Happy Hour specials (on a Saturday) and took full advantage - meatballs and discount cocktails. Meatballs were soft and moist and flavorful with 4 per order. Miso were better than the Roman (strong sauce with almost raw garlic) but we liked both. Drinks were all solid, from Happy Hour on. Get the guava-lychee drink. The rest of the menu is split into pizzas and not pizzas and we picked a few from both. The Caesar and most other dishes are perfectly portioned for one or to share amongst a table of four. We ended up having the Caesar, two “not pizzas”, the two orders of meatballs, and two pizzas and it was perfect for our group at a great price. Some dishes were a split like/don’t like (lemony potatoes & desserts), but as a whole we didn’t have a bad bite. A great spot for a little less than a la fancy pizza & pasta dinner, Renzo delivers.
Parking: You’ll circle the block a few times to find street parking“

“Beautiful wines, delicious food, knowledgeable and friendly staff!! what more could you ask for?! Highly recommending this cozy little spot just off the beaten downtown path!“
“They have a remarkable well researched wine list with selections seldom seen elsewhere. In my case I found a Bomfim from the Portugal Pinhao Region I had not seem since visiting in 2015. Also a Shiraz from the Adelaide McLaren Vale Region we had not seen since visiting in 2017. Great to find somewhere with wines out of the ordinary and able to enjoy wines from past travels again.“

“We stumbled into the rooftop for a bachelorette party and had the most amazing time. Dana was the most caring waitress. She recommended drinks to the group, hand delivered shots to the photo booth for the bride, and gave us advice about the city! The drinks were lived by the group! Go here and ask for Dana!“

“Ordered takeout for two sandwiches, the Italian girl and the Italian boy! Really good sandwiches - super filling, great flavor. $17 each.
The only thing to note is that both sandwiches (both halves of each) had a horizontal toothpick in them. Usually they’re vertical to keep the sandwich together but a couple bites into the sandwich, bit right into the toothpick. Feels extremely dangerous.“

“I found out about Southbound, through my job. I had to go do some work there, and found the owner and everyone there, super friendly. Most people at restaurants ignore working people while they are there. As my 42nd anniversary was quickly approaching, I decided to give this place a try. Some of my past picks, have not been the best. Southbound cleared EVERY hurdle I have about restaurants. From the moment we approached the restaurant, great service began! While coming thru the gate, the hostess yelled out, "HEY LARRY" and then said, "This must be your beautiful wife"! Like CHEERS, it felt great to go somewhere, "Where everybody knows your name" We were seated and got to view the open fire oven. I had dropped off 42 roses the week before for them to put on our table, for my wife. Tropical storm Debbie, and downtown flooding prevented us from going exactly on our anniversary. I was worried that store bought roses, would not last thru the weeklong delay, Joel assured me everything would be taken care of, and not to worry. As we were seated, there on the table, sat 42 roses. Fresh, and arranged with baby breath flowers included. I was told the young lady with the hostess had arranged them. They were gorgeous! They also had an anniversary card on the table from them, not something I had dropped off. The service was tremendous, the food indescribably outstanding! I have only had steak Tar Tar once before in my life, and was greatly afraid to try it again, as the first time was awful. It was superb! They take great pride in the presentation of their food products. I felt like I was in an episode of Master Chef. We had the steak, as well as the Sea bass, okra, corn, sweet potatoes, and the Caramel cake. Everything absolutely wonderful! This was a truly wonderful and memorable dining experience!! I would give 100 stars, and a Siskel and Ebert two thumbs up! There was only one thing I was disappointed about. No sweet tea! Were In Charleston SC, no sweet tea. Everything else totally made up for it though. The staff even had everyone present sign a menu, wishing us a happy anniversry1 I will most definatly go there again for a special occasion. Thanks to Andrew, Joel, and the entire staff, for making this night special!!“

“Truly an experience unlike any other. From the caviar pairings, the variety of mignonettes & wines from all over the world, the learning experience behind each & every course - it’s as if Kevin has put you & 11 strangers on a rollercoaster that he somehow is navigating for hours. Never having tried caviar before, I’m so happy this place was my first. The amount you learn in just this experience alone is worth the price in my opinion. Not to mention Kevin’s got the best music selection on this side of the Mississippi. Put Raw Lab on your bucket list, you won’t regret it!“

“pricey wine bar!
the wine options were expansive, and there were light charcuterie bites (think meat and cheese). i was quite surprised to see slices of prosciutto for ~$20. coming from nyc, i thought this was pretty pricey.
this is a good spot to get a drink w a loved one but maybe only one drink. it’s not very cozy because the space is quite big and doesn’t fill up with people but still very quaint and cute.“

“The Press is a burrito specific restaurant. You order from a window in the front of the building. There is a small patio to eat in the back. The burrito and a diet coke was $20. Anywhere but down town I would say that is too high but being down town that seems about right.
The burrito was excellent!!!
It was tasty and filling.“
“Obviously it's a tiny spot and I'm sure had I been there on a busy night it would have been less enjoyable but this little neighborhood bar is perfect to hang & try some random beers. The option for 3oz pours means you can try everything they have and live to tell the tale. Glad I found it on my trip.“

“My husband, Skip, and I popped a bottle of Dom Pérignon, for NYE, and I had two glasses... I do not usually go so wild. But, after my crazy night, I needed a little pick-me-up. I decided to try this new "Point Break." I went to the drive-through, and the most LOVELY and STUNNING young girl took my order. She said her name was "Mary Catherine." She was very sweet. She answered all my questions about the menu with ease. Clearly well-studied. I got a "Mochiatto", suggested by Miss Mary Catherine. It was delicious and was perfect to cure these New Year's Morning willies! LOL!! I will definitely be back to this establishment.“
