“The food was beyond good; it truly was some of the best Chinese food I have ever tasted. From the moment the first dish arrived at the table, I could tell we were in for a treat. The vibrant colors and inviting aromas made my mouth water. Each bite was packed with flavor, whether it was the tender chicken stir-fry or the perfectly cooked dumplings. The freshness of the ingredients really stood out, making every dish feel authentic and special. As we explored the menu, it was hard to pick our favorites because everything was so delicious. The sweet and sour sauce had just the right balance of tangy and sweet, while the fried rice was fluffy and satisfying. I couldn’t get enough of the crispy spring rolls, filled with crunchy vegetables. Every dish complemented the others, creating a fantastic meal experience. It was a mix of traditional flavors that managed to blow my taste buds away. After finishing our meal, I felt truly satisfied and happy, not just because of the food, but also the whole vibe of the place. There was a cozy atmosphere that made us feel at home while we enjoyed our feast. The friendly staff made sure we had everything we needed and even recommended some dishes that we hadn’t tried yet. I left the restaurant excited to come back and explore more of the amazing menu, convinced that this could easily become my new favorite dining spot for Chinese food.“

“My husband and I are regulars at Japan Diner, dining here almost weekly, and it never disappoints. The menu offers a fantastic variety of dishes, and we’ve discovered several favorites. My husband adores the Extra Spicy Szechuan Beef, Shacha Beef, and Orange Peel Chicken—all with bold flavors. I gravitate toward the combination plates with white rice and cheese wontons, always ordering extra wontons. The spring rolls and steamed dumplings are also exceptional, but the cheese wontons stand out with their perfectly crisp texture and generous, creamy filling.

For soup lovers, this spot is a dream. The Tom Yum Soup is a personal favorite, packed with shrimp, mushrooms, lemongrass, basil, and onion in a creamy, flavorful broth. It’s my ultimate comfort food, especially when I’m feeling under the weather. The Egg Drop Soup is equally delicious and never fails to hit the spot. Whether we’re dining in or taking our meals to go, the quality and care in preparation shine through every time.

Service at Japan Diner is stellar. Pickup orders are handled quickly through the drive-through window, and dining in is just as efficient and welcoming. With its fantastic food, friendly staff, and convenient location near Presbyterian College, Japan Diner has truly become a beloved staple for us. Highly recommended!“

“The staff is courteous And kind. I would have really loved to see more vegetables available somewhere on this buffet, but judging by the conversations in the booths around me, it was pretty clear that I was alone in that opinion, so I had to settle for picking all the broccoli out of the beef and broccoli.

(.. sorry about that guys)
That said, the food that I ate was good, broccoli a little undercooked but generally speaking it's flavorful, has a good texture/char, nothing was overcooked or dry or dying under a heat lamp, even though the business was relatively slow, I came at around 2:00 in the afternoon, had what I suppose is their lunch buffet for $16, and my water glass was never empty. Empty. Which is very impressive because I drink a lot and I've almost never been to a restaurant especially not in this area, especially not a self-serve restaurant like a buffet, that has a wait staff that are so attentive.

Kind, courteous, and If I had to guess, playing to their strengths based on their demographic of people who seem like they've never seen vegetables, everything in this restaurant besides the fruit/ vegetable quantity and quality was nice. It seems like a pretty tucked away local spot, it doesn't taste like weird chain restaurant food, and I would definitely eat here again.“

“My husband ordered hibachi shrimp & scallops, my daughter ordered teriyaki chicken & broccoli with lo mein & I ordered Chinese chicken & broccoli with lo mein. I was a little surprised that it was $3 to substitute rice for lo mein. However, the lo mein was very good. My husband loved his sushi appetizer plus complemented the rice they used. It was mashed or something? He did not like his entrée or their version of white sauce. My daughter said she enjoyed the steamed dumplings, but the sauce was a bit odd, and her entrée was good.I didn't try the sushi, but I did eat a dumpling. It was ok, but I would probably try the fried dumplings in the future. The chicken in my entrée was a bit dry but had a good flavor with broccoli cooked just right. I will give them another try with different choices. The menu has multiple options to explore.“
