“1st time ordering here. Was in mood for oriental food. Happen to pick this place. Menus were easy to navigate. Pretty diverse choices. Mainly chicken, steak combos. I tried the Steak Teriaki, so did my wife. Mine was a little tough,(overcooked) but my wife's was perfectly tender. I think we will return but I will order mine rare.“

“as regulars, sushi masa is mine and my husband’s favorite place to eat and one of our favorite places to be in general. the food is genuinely outstanding every time—specials, apps, sushi, ramen, you name it.
the service is wonderful as well. the staff is kind and attentive, and the flow of how they operate is flawless! we’re so happy to see how well they’re doing because the people there truly deserve to find success.
and also we want them to stick around for a long time so we can keep coming and ordering absurd amounts of rolls.“

“I must’ve gotten to go during a very slow time because there were no other customers there. I was shocked because the sushi was absolutely amazing. I will for sure be back. I ordered the sweet heart roll, the patriot, and some salmon sashimi. so delicious!“

“I don't always chase hibachi theatrics through a cloud of onion volcanoes... but when I do...
Tokyo Grill greets you like a neon wink on a Tuesday night. The doors slide open and—whoosh—soy sauce, sizzling garlic, and ambition hit you in the face like a culinary pep talk. The grill hisses. The spatulas tap-dance. Somewhere, a shrimp achieves liftoff and lands with the confidence of a gymnast sticking the dismount.
Mini-scene: I’m seated at the edge of the action. The chef builds a tower of onion rings, lights it up, and suddenly we’re all gathered around a tiny edible campfire. A kid gasps. A dad pretends he’s not impressed. I lean back and murmur, “If dinner’s going to be a show, it better earn a standing ovation.” Tokyo Grill? It bows without being asked.
The steak arrives with that caramelized whisper—seared on the outside, tender enough to make you reconsider your life choices on the inside. Fried rice that’s fluffy but decisive. Vegetables that snap like they’ve got somewhere to be. And the sauces? Let’s just say I considered writing them a thank-you note.
Here’s the wisdom, tucked between bites: sometimes joy isn’t subtle. Sometimes it arrives with sparks, sizzle, and a little flair. And if you’re going to gather around a table, gather around one that makes you feel like you were invited on purpose.
Stay sizzling, my friends.“

“I love Joy of Tokyo to begin with. However, this one is exceptional. I came in and communicated that I wasn’t able to read the menu (I just had to move down the counter a little bit in order to see better and said this to make me walking away a bit less awkward). The kind guy at the front voluntarily started explaining the menu and reading each item very professionally, respectfully, and patiently. I was blown away by the kind gesture, which is the essence things that make dining anywhere a stellar experience.
Thank you for reading this review and I hope your experience here is as great as mine always is!“

“I had the sesame chicken combo, subbed lo mien for rice and added an egg roll. It's the best Chinese food I've had in my 4 years of living on SC. Its a small store front restaurant, and it's much better did than what your think you're about to get!“

“Always delicious and fast even though everything is made to order. You can’t beat the all you can eat price. It’s the equivalent of ordering two specialty roles, but you can order almost everything on the menu. We go about once a month, service is always great too.“

“Easily our favorite hibachi and the Sakura roll is a must have. We appreciate the fresh cut vegetables in our meals instead frozen like it usually is at hibachi restaurants. The service is always great and the restaurant is clean. If you live close do not pass on Sakura!“

“Nice little place for a quick bite! The food was prepared fast but with the right flavor, it felt fresh and tasty
Price wise, around the same for similar places, I could spend the same amount of money in a fast burger joint and not have a satisfying meal like the one I had there
I definitely will come back whenever I near by“

“Consistently good meals, whether we eat in or order to go, ever since they opened several years ago. We like the chicken, steak, or shrimp bowls with noodles or you can have rice. Our friends say Konnichiwa has the best sushi in this area. Always friendly and attentive service. Highly recommend.“

“I’ve lived here for 24 years, and tonight was the first time I’d ever been to (or even heard of ) Shanghai Tokyo. I’m from NY and was lucky to experience some of the best Chinese out there. Y’all...this place is hands down THE BEST Chinese I’ve ever had in Greenville! I took a bite of each of my dishes and found myself talking aloud (to myself) about how good it was and how happy I am! 🤣🤦♀️“

“My last visit was a few months ago and the quality was lack luster for the price but my daughter wanted sushi for her birthday and I was pleasantly surprised by the improvement in management as well as the quality of the food and its contents I will remain a faithful customer as long as this becomes the normal the lack of the liquor license does take away from my “beer while I wait” they are rectifying this as the sign inside says so if you have a similar opinion please give them a fresh try“

“We took out 7 year old for his birthday dinner, the experience started off great. We showed up and we're seated on time, waitress came by and got drink orders and that's when the night slowed down. It took quite some time between ordering drinks and ordering food, the chef didn't do anything spectacular but the food tasted fine and he didn't take longer than the average. Between the chef starting and finishing our waited didn't come by one time so I was out of drink pretty much from start to finish of the cooking. When she did come by I ask for a refill and she went to get that and the checks. She came back by a few minutes later and didn't have my drink and the checks were all mixed up. After that I never saw her again, the manager(possibly owner) came by and said the checks were up front. She made it seem like that was normal but I've never been to a Japanese style restaurant where you doing get your checks at the table and have to go to the hostess stand to see them and pay. We didn't get a birthday song. And no drinks to go, thankfully we did get white sauce. I will be hesitant to go back.“
