Phenomenal food, and great service!! Gavin was our server, and provided excellent recommendations for libations, food, and local activities! The short ribs literally melted in my mouth, and the duck was so flavorful! I can’t wait to return, and I’m sad I have to wait until our next trip!!

Trappe Door is a small, rustic restaurant located in a basement without windows. The menu features a variety of dishes such as mushrooms as an appetizer, salmon, meatballs, mussels, Steak Frites filet, and fish and chips. The restaurant is especially known for its fries, which come with a choice of three mayonnaise dipping sauces. The atmosphere is dark and cozy, making it a good spot for a night out. The service is knowledgeable and friendly, with staff happy to make recommendations. The restaurant is quiet enough for kids, but does not specifically cater to them, creating a calm environment. Many guests praise the excellent service and delicious food, including the mussels and the short ribs, which are described as melting in the mouth. The aesthetic of the place surprises visitors when they see the staircase at the entrance, but once inside, it is loved instantly. Reservations are recommended due to its popularity. Recent reviews highlight the friendly staff, great beer, and cool ambiance. Guests enjoy hearty food from Belgium such as potatoes, beef, cheese, and beer, with few vegetables. The food is described as spectacular, with particular praise for the short ribs, which are succulent and flavorful. The baked Brie appetizer is served in a breaded tomb, and the waterzooi is appreciated for its umami, buttery flavor that brings tears to the eyes. The Brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes are also noted as delicious. Overall, Trappe Door offers a cozy, flavorful experience with excellent recommendations from the staff and a welcoming atmosphere.
