“Consistently the best biscuits and service for any chain in the area. We drove past at least a dozen places to get breakfast there as we had the time and wanted a better experience. The only bad thing I can possibly say is I wish it was closer to home!“
“Small space, but it is a great stop. They have alcohol specials daily. We went on Monday for half off glasses of wine. We originally stopped in to have a glass while we waited for pur Uber to the next spot. The wine, service, and food were so good we stayed for the evening. Russ was our bartender, and he was very welcoming and insightful. I wasn't hungry and looking for food but we shared some small plates and I could have eaten more food if we had time. Amazing place to go.“
“Maxwell's is a fantastic little spot in downtown Waxhaw. It's also very popular, which is great for the restaurant, but makes it a challenge when we wanted to have lunch today. The place was packed with a bunch of people waiting outside. We put our name on the list and were told it would be about 40 minutes. No biggie, Waxhaw has plenty to offer while we wait. It's so good that this place is so well known and popular.Today I got the Grilled Salmon Salad. The salad is what is to be expected - fresh greens, cucumbers, tomatoes, croutons, hard boiled egg. Everything was fresh and tasty. On top was a spectacular piece of salmon, grilled perfectly and arrived smelling like Sunday brunch, as it was cured with maple syrup. That made it very unique. Interestingly, the aroma was wonderful, but the flavor just wasn't there. The fish itself tasted great, but the maple never really hit my tastebuds. Could be because it was lightly blackened (by design) and the crust formed there took away some of the sweetness? The fish was great, don't get me wrong, but it smelled better than it tasted. When we return, I'll get it again. I just wish the taste had a stronger maple flavor. Our pescatarian middle schooler got mozzarella sticks and hummus with pita. The sticks seemed pretty standard fare, but our kid really raved about how good the hummus was.As for the atmosphere, the room is bright and inviting, with classic looking tools and components on the walls. Plenty of TV's with sports. Although it was one room that was packed with people, we could still hear ourselves and carry on conversations at our table. Maxwell's loses a start for atmosphere because the tables were too jam packed together. Servers and patrons alike kept bumping into our chairs as they walked by (but everyone was polite about it). I was guilty of this too when navigating to the bathroom, as I couldn't avoid chairs which were back-to-back on my way across the room. We were seated near the bar, which is where people would stand around while waiting for a table. For some of the meal, a gentleman's behind was hovering right over my wife's shoulder as were waiting for our food to arrive. The constant bumping took away a little from our experience. If we were in a booth, we probably wouldn't have been impacted.Maxwell's is a fabulous restaurant and is a great reason to visit downtown Waxhaw!Vegetarian options: Our kid is a pescatarian and got mozzarella sticks and hummus with pita. They said it was really good hummus, so that's good. There are plenty of salads to choose from, plus a garden burger.Parking: Street parking is okay, with parallel parking on one side and angled parking on the other. You can always park around the corner on South Providence Street too.Kid-friendliness: There were plenty of kids in the restaurant from toddlers to middle schoolers. There's a kids menu with crayons too.“
“Great local restaurant and consistently one of our favorites! Diverse menu with multiple healthy options and things that can modified as needed. Superior quality of all food items coupled with exceptional service - all very consistent!!! We had the crab cakes, side of collard greens, salmon on lentils/kale, and a side of roasted butternut squash with brussel sprouts - each dish perfectly cooked, excellent flavors.“
“The food here is incredible. We came for brunch, were seated right away. We had the Biscuit Bake and the Monte Cristo. It was soooo good, flavorful and savory cooked to perfection. We will definitely be back to try everything on the menu. Can't wait!Prices are very reasonable too.“
“My first impression was "This is my kind of place"! The front staff were polite and attentive. Our table wasn't ready when we arrived, so we had a seat in the bar. If you're a bourbon enthusiast, this is a great watering hole! Brittany, the bartender, makes a fantastic Old Fashioned! We were seated soon after and enjoyed our brunch fare. The truffle deviled eggs were DEVINE! We both had eggs Benedict. I had mine with crab, and my friend had the traditional. Everything was outstanding! From beginning to end. We will definitely be returning. 10/10“
“I've never had a bad meal at the Flying Biscuit. We normally go to the Park Rd location but came to this location for the first time. Where there would normally be a long wait on the weekends, we got in right away because we were willing to sit at the bar. The food was prepared quickly but was still fresh and hot. I love that they offer so many non-pork options. In fact, besides bacon, they don't serve potk but they offer turkey bacon, chicken sausage and this time I tried chicken chorizo. Their grits are always creamy, the biscuits are always fluffy. I often have their biscuits and gravy because it's made with chicken sausage and its amazing and you can't find that anywhere else but the grits bowl with chicken chorizo was amazing and I'll have that again as well. You just can't go wrong.I only gave 4 stars for service because our server was nice but it was hard to get her attention and ultimately it took awhile for us to get our bill.Dietary restrictions: Lots of options for non pork esters“
“Came in for a girls night with some friends. Started with a game of bowling, then played 3 games of pool and finished up with corn hole. 2 bars open to serve alcoholic drinks. Patio seating to enjoy the weather. They also have connect four, Jenga and table tennis. Had a great time!“
“5 ⭐️ We came back to give this location another try; had a bad experience at the drive thru previously but the owner reached out to us, listened and seemed more than genuine in his distress. He promised that it would be better. He was right. Tonight we dined in—it was raining like crazy and we didn’t want to overload the drive thru. Diana was our server and she was delightful. Personable, efficient and caring. Our meal was perfect; the atmosphere was relaxed and happy and we enjoyed ourselves. Thanks for asking us back; we will get back to our regular visits.“
“The Pump House location cannot be beat. The perfect place to enjoy a meal or drink - right on the river - particularly when the weather is nice!Personally, I prefer to visit for happy hour drinks and snacks in lieu of dinner service. The Smoked Chicken Nachos are a great shareable. The Brussel Sprouts are delicious but super rich, so best to share with others (I usually can only have a few bites). Cocktails and wine selection are always on point, and the drink specials during happy hour are excellent.“
“Was visiting from out of town and ran across this restaurant. Went through the drive thru and was pleasantly surprised with the amount of food, taste, and quality. Ordered the flounder and shrimp and also the classic chicken pita (not pictured). Highly recommend.“
“Showmars is a great spot with super fresh ingredients and fast, friendly service. They have fresh salads, juicy grilled chicken, THE BEST tzatziki sauce, gyro, pitas, cheeseburgers, fried chicken sandwiches, pasta salad, the list goes on. You'll get a lot for your dollar as their portion sizes are pretty substantial! They are "Greek Southern" in their approach to food. They offer a casual order-at-the-counter-and-grab-a-number style dining experience which makes it perfect for a quick lunch or dinner with a group. The staff come around and make sure your drinks are refilled. Showmars is our go-to spot and I think if you give it a try, you'll agree!“
“We started off with deviled eggs which hit the spot. I got the Mr. Jim combo plate with corn on the cob and potato salad. My two meats were pulled pork and cheddar jalapeno sausage. All the food was very good. The cheddar biscuits were the best part of the meal. Our waitress was very friendly and I will be back in the future. A reservation is suggested as they seem to get busy.Parking: Large lot next to the restaurant.“
