The Charleston Harbor Fish House offers a delightful dining experience with stunning views of the harbor. The menu features a variety of Southern-inspired dishes made with fresh seafood and local ingredients. The Fried Green Tomatoes, Mahi Mahi, and Seared Scallops are customer favorites, praised for their outstanding flavors. The outdoor seating area provides a picturesque setting, allowing guests to enjoy the beautiful scenery. While the prices may be a bit higher, the overall experience is worth the investment. Upstairs, the Bridge Bar offers a relaxed atmosphere with a great view, serving delicious shrimp and fresh tuna tartare with chips.
Guests often highlight the fantastic view, which makes the trip worthwhile even without food. Many visitors enjoy the good food and excellent service, especially the friendly waitress who helps with menu choices and ensures guests have everything they need. The waterfront location with floor-to-ceiling windows offers a panoramic view of the river and the ship, creating an amazing atmosphere. However, parking can be tricky due to limited signs, and Waze may lead to parking far from the restaurant, so parking on the western side of the lot is recommended to avoid a long walk.
While most reviews praise the quality of the seafood and the friendly staff, there are some disappointing experiences. Some guests found certain dishes like shrimp & grits to be oily and not to their taste, with overcooked shrimp and room temperature plates. The she crab soup was considered shallow and lacking crab, served with Ritz crackers instead of traditional oyster crackers. Other dishes, such as fried cod, were better but still not perfect, with breading that was thicker than the fish. Despite these issues, the server was described as very nice, and charges for the meals were adjusted accordingly. Overall, the Charleston Harbor Fish House provides a memorable setting and good seafood, but some dishes may not meet everyone's expectations.
