“This was a late night dinner to-go situation. I pulled up 10 minutes before closing ( I don't like being that person that does that either). The owner opened up and served everything I wanted on demand. Had lots of food for a really good deal. We had a great conversation during the visit. I also appreciated this guy's political views. He sported the TRUMP shirt proudly because of how much prosperity he had under the Trump administration opposed to what is going on now days. He's ready to live in another era of American greatness!“

“Just moved here from NJ and was looking for a good Chinese restaurant. Very tasty chicken chow mein, general tso, fried rice and lomein. Egg roll to go. I’m sure will be delish. Service was great. Typical Chinese take out environment, clean. Definately will return.“

“It’s your typical Chinese restaurant. I was sad that they didn’t have Pad Thai, but the sweet and sour chicken was good! My husband loved their General Tso’s. The egg roll was good, it doesn’t taste like what I’m used to. I’m from a different state so I’m used to my usual place I go to. My daughter was upset and the one guy gave her a cup that lights up. Overall, we were happy and would return next time we’re in town.“

“This is the typical Chinese food you’ll find in the North East. The other places I’ve tried down here all I can taste is sugar but here you actually get some flavor and heat.

We’ve had the Mongolian chicken which I enjoy, the general Tao’s chicken which people seem to really like, and the kung pao chicken also came out nicely.

Portion sizes are generous, prices are good. Service is no nonsense and quick because of it.

“Our church ordered food for a dinner. I spoke with Anna first to place the order. Later, I worked with Rachel. Both ladies were friendly and easy to work with. We picked up our food. It was hot and delicious, and there was a generous amount. So many people commented that the food was so good. We were very pleased!“

I’ve been fans of Kwei Fei since back in the days of their pop ups at The Daily. They’ve always brought the heat (literally) and have been eager to try this new venture, Beautiful South.

Stopped in for Sunday Brunch and it did not disappoint. The char siu fried rice had that familiar wok char and was on point! Also had the char siu bao, salt and pepper pork, and shumai. It brought back memories of dim sum in the Bay Area (big compliment) but without the old lady that gets mad when u don’t like what she has on her cart! ?

“Solid carry out place close to home that can’t be beat. There’s really only a wait when it’s super busy, but those times the good is extra hot!

I really like the hot and sour soup, the roast pork lo mein is smoky and tasty . We haven’t had a bad meal from this place“

I wish you could adjust the level of spice a bit more and I don't know why they took all the good hot peppers out of everything but it is good food. Good dumplings, better than most places. The soups are also really good in flavor without too much msg.

Parking: Parking is super easy. It's in the corner near Harris teeter / the toddy shop, plenty of parking lot spots, never had any trouble.“

“While mine was just ok, everyone else loved their food, hence the 5-star review. I ordered steamed rice and steamed vegetables, hence bland. But without oil, how I like it. The Mongolian beef with rice seemed to be a standout. Eggdrop soup just ok too. & 5 stars for being open on Christmas too.“

“Chopsticks House is hands down the most amazing Chinese restaurant in the downtown Charleston area! Every dish I’ve tried has been consistently fresh, flavorful, and just hits the spot every time. Whether you're in the mood for something classic like General Tso’s Chicken or craving some crispy egg rolls, they nail it.

What truly makes the experience even better is their delivery driver, Cui Lin. She always delivers with a warm smile and friendly energy—such a joy to see at my door! Her kindness and professionalism really go a long way and make the service feel personal.

“I ordered from the New Peking in November 2024. My first impression was the all too common older restaurant that really needs an update, or at least some work.
You order from behind a plastic window that separates the kitchen and counter area from what is considered a dining room. There are a good amount of booths, it’s very dark, and as earlier stated, needs work.
I ordered the General special. That came with fried rice, soup and an egg roll. I think it was about $13. I feel that was a pretty fair price considering. I also grabbed two cans of soda for another $3. Although I didn’t need the second can, my total for dinner was only about $16 total.
The food itself was okay. It wasn’t bad, but I definitely have had much better. But it did the job. I couldn’t eat it all. It wasn’t bad to eat. And it was pretty cost effective.
I was only visiting the area and will not become a regular customer. But if back in the area, I would consider New Peking again. It’s not the best I’ve had. But is far from the worst. Like I said, it did the job.“

“Jaings Kitchen is the best on james Island hands down. It used to be called Tokyo Express and it was the only place we would order. They rebranded it to Jaing’s Kitchen but the food is still as good as it has always been, maybe even better now. The food is fresh and flavorful and just the perfect takeout idea that brought you here to this google review. Enjoy!“
