“Just so you're not surprised, this is the kind of place where you pick up your meat and take it home to keep warm/heat up and pair it with your own fixins' for a meal. If you get the ribs they are going to come rinds on, meat falling off the bone, lots of sauce. The sauce is the right amount of spicy for those who like spicy.“
“Support local! Went here for ribs as I was craving ribs, and the reviews drew me to the place. I ordered the rib plate, but since I only wanted ribs, the first option, Rib Sandwich, made sense as suggested by the owner. I paid $18 because I ordered 2 orders of the rib sandwich. One to satisfy my craving and one for later midnight snack ?. The meat was cooked right (first time trying southern bbq, so maybe my opinion doesn't hold merit yet...haha).•Will I go again? Yes, I would. •Did I eat in? No, carry out. This place is more like a one-man show, so I wouldn't eat in unless the gentleman who served us is okay with it. I do not know if there will be a table service if you decide to eat in.•Payment options? CASH ONLY. He does have drinks, Pepsi products.Rate of 4/5.“
“So we headed into Sumter to grab a slab of beef, or two. Then, we realize it's past dinner time, Yelp to the rescue! Search for top rated Bar-B-Que. Results: Wards Bar-B-Que, 5 stars. Well, away we go. Small place right beside a gas station. Dine in or carry out. Service was fast with a big smile and Southern charm. I got the large dinner, and my wife ordered the small. Perfect rice covered in red hash. Perfectly seasoned. Very good. Pork was very tender with good smoky flavor. Small cup of sauce on the side, just a dash, and it was awesome. The Cole slaw was very tasty. The hushpuppies were great. Brewed sweet tea was the finishing touch, Chef's kiss! I was full as the portions are a good value. My wife took the rest of hers back to the cabin. As we ate on this rainy Friday evening, nearly a dozen locals stopped by for take out dinner. If you pass through this area or stay at Poinsett State Park, drop by, and you won't be disappointed!“
“Portion sizes are large. The hash has a tomato based sauce not a mustard one. It is a bit sweet, mellow, with a little tang. Not too acidic or overpowering. Pulled pork is nice and tender. Hush puppies have a pleasant crunchy outer crust and a soft fluffy center. Chicken is well cooked not dry. The tomato based barbecue sauce on the chicken is sweet and savory. They bring your plate out to you, refill your glasses, and treat you politely.“
