Experience Brookings' Mexican food at these fantastic spots.
“They have great service and great prices. I'd go here any day and it would be cheaper than McDonald's, even after leaving a tip. Been a couple years since I've been there. Salsa not as good as it used to be, too runny and watery, and chips tasted like they were old. The rest of the food is awesome! Never had an entrée that I didn't like.“
“The Chile Colorado with green chili was muy sabor! Thanks to the waiter and chef for substituting green chili, greatly appreciated! Great drinks from horchata, Jarritos, to a nice selection of quality tequila. I also dig the ambiance here, feels like its own stand alone restaurant. ¡Gracias!“
“I worked at the BP gas station where Taco express is for about 3 years and I ate this place on about a daily basis and never got sick of it. Great food with a great price. The owners are awesome people and know a bit of spanish which is great for the large groups of construction people who come in everyday.“
“I can't say enough about this restaurant. Our server was attentive and super nice, and had great guidance for our first time there. Both of our meals were on point! I went with the Italian and my wife went with the Mexican side of the menu. Very generous portions, very tasty. It's like your nona and abuelita got together to make you Sunday supper.“
“I’m glad they’ve had enough staff now to be open inside on Sundays, it was a big deterrent during peak COVID to know only the packed drive thru was available. (I’ve not seen it that busy myself since) Speed I think is good, with just recently a quiet day yielding a Super Taco combo within 3 minutes. The interior is functional, never seen it packed full, and sometimes a bit unkempt. (but if I’m going to choose between minding an occasional stray lettuce or the mentioned drive thru, I’ll take care of myself) (their drive thru isn’t bad though, I just don’t want to eat in my car)Food quality is I guess what you’d get from other Taco John’s, being average Mexican-USA’n food. (but those potato oles can disappear like popcorn, very enjoyable) I don’t recommend keeping their food very long to eat later though, because besides the potato oles their deliciousness fades fast.Overall, I miss the red color scheme, but still like eating here on occasion. Just please let me come inside.Parking: It’s a kinda weird parking lot, either fun-looking or a bit difficult to navigate depending on your point of view. Not great for long, wide-turning vehicles.“
“I myself love the street tacos and like the other person said. I haven't had tacos like this since Nothern California. Tacos were filled with plenty of meat and sauce was on point. I'd eat every day if they were open daily. I will be back. I also love to buy their dozen of tamales to pop in microwave when im hungry.“
