“My husband & I "discovered" this restaurant just a couple of months ago. It is mostly a "take out" place. At that time we got BBQ ribs (with bones) and shrimp in lobster sauce to go. I have eaten Chinese food in many international cities (including NY & SF) & thought I had never had better BBQ ribs or shrimp in lobster sauce than from here. We recently returned to bring home a lot more of both as well as sweet & sour soup & thought it all OUTSTANDING in quality as well as portion size. These entrees from here in my book are outstanding.“
“Found this shop today and it was great! Tried the avocado smoothie and the pina colada smoothie and the pina colada smoothie was def much better. The avocado one was good too, but I want to try a diff flavor next time. The shop was really cute inside and they even have some table games as well. Will def come back and try some of their other menu items as well! They even have soursop tea!“

“Some of the best sushi you will find in Memphis area. I’ve eaten at both restaurants within this week and both excellent. Man who complained about slow service evidently doesn’t know we are in a pandemic and expect service to be the same as before. Patience is key. I will say service was fast both times. Depends on time you go maybe? Worth the wait. Go try it 😉“

“Food and service are always excellent! We are so excited to be able to visit this restaurant several times a week as it is close to the house and they always know what we like and want to eat. “Visited the franchise location in downtown Austin, TX in November 2023 and the Marietta location in Georgia during the summer of 2023.After I read the story, I needed to visit the original location! As a culinary journalist, these are my favorite types of restaurants to document, I love a mom and pop generational establishment.It was a pleasure to meet the granddaughter of the original owners, Gus and Gertrude. She was pleasant and helpful in picking the perfect meal for our family.We went with the 8pc family meal - came with 2 breast, 2 wings. 2 thighs and 2 drumsticks with baked beans, cole slaw and fried green tomatoes.She forewarned us that the flavors are not the same as the franchise flavors. I was a bit scared as I highly enjoyed what I had in Austin. It was such a happy surprise that the chicken here was even better! The skin is much spicier, and the meat was just as juicy.The cole slaw was my favorite side, with the baked beans following and the fried green tomatoes coming in 3rd place.If you enjoy fried chicken, I would definitely recommend a stop at this tried and true TN state staple! Worth the drive and 20min + wait for this legendary chicken!“

“Excellent service! I came into the restaurant today with several orders and different forms of payment. Madison was mycashier and I felt compelled to write a post telling her what a great job she did. The entire staff there was extremely helpful and got my orders out fast. More times than not the service at Chick-fil-A is good but I felt that the service I received today was exceptional! Thank you!“

“Omg! I haven’t had turnip greens this good since was a teenager (40 years ago). I grew up in the Deep South eating the best homegrown & homemade vegetables around. Sling Shot Charlie’s brings back sweet memories! I can’t wait to go back!“
