“I deducted a star because their egg rolls have taken a giant hit. Said egg rolls have gone from possibly homemade to grocery store bought frozen mush. Otherwise, they have great traditional Chinese take out. Also they are the last bastion of dark meat for teriyaki chicken on a stick which is disappearing from the tricities. It is amazing. Overall I highly recommend this overlooked delicious Chinese restaurant.“

Long-time customer, great food — but tonight was frustrating.
Happy Star has been a favorite of mine for years, and the food is genuinely delicious — no complaints there. But my experience tonight was a real disappointment and I felt like I needed to share it.
I called in a pickup order at 6:51 PM and was told it would be 15–20 minutes. I arrived shortly after that window, was told a few more minutes, and ended up waiting over 40 minutes total. During that time, I watched a steady stream of DoorDash drivers come in and pick up order after order. It was hard not to notice that third-party delivery orders seemed to be taking priority over customers who had called ahead and were standing right there waiting.
To make matters worse, a call was made to check on the order and we were told the food was already ready. When I went back in, I was told it would be a few more minutes — so there was clearly a communication breakdown somewhere.
The young man working the counter also seemed distracted and not fully engaged with the customers waiting.
Again, the food is wonderful — that part never changes. But if you’re prioritizing DoorDash volume over your walk-in and call-in customers, that’s something worth revisiting. As a loyal customer, it’s just not the experience I’ve come to expect from Happy Star.“

Simply great experience! Parking was easy even with our big truck. Staff welcomed us as soon as we came in and were helpful and pleasant! Very clean restaurant. Food was all fresh and delicious! They even have the flavored lemonades which are a fantastic idea! We haven't seen that yet at Panda. Absolutely would recommend this Panda Express.

I read over the previous lower reviews and it seems that they were about people who would show up at 9:59 and be bothered they were closing or people who just didn't like this type of food. The other type of negative review were people who could have just asked the staff for help to fix minor things, but instead wanted to whine online! C'mon people!
