This was the first time that I have been to J. Alexander's. Some friends picked the restaurant out and we met them there. The atmosphere was wonderful but the carrot cake was well worth going. I do not know how much it cost (because my friend picked up the tab) but it was well worth the money. J Alexander's is our go to restaurant when we are in town. The orzo and rice and carrot cake are what brings me back time and time again. My only knock is that the service is not always consistent. FYI - use OpenTable as there normally is a wait
I travel a lot for business so I asked the hotel receptionist where to get a good steak. J Alexander's was within walking distance of my hotel. I did my own research once I got into my room and saw a pic of the avocado bomb and knew I was getting that. I walked there, making sure to wear business casual clothes. I was glad I did.
