If you know about Papa Turney’s, you know what a hidden gem this place is. The hickory smoked bbq is very good and well-priced, but the atmosphere is as authentic of a music spot you will find in Nashville. Wednesdays and Saturdays are open to musicians and bands who can come and put their name down to play. Mike’s a sweetheart. Introduced me to his wife across the room and encouraged me to come for the Blues jam, Wednesday and Saturday nights). Had the smoked catfish (delicious), grilled cabbage and cole slaw with a coke. Low key, live music, welcoming host, nice people, great food, waterside dining, what else could you want?

I always look for locally owned bbq places whenever I travel. I found Papa Turneys last night and spent about 3 hours there. The food was great! I could have been in, ate, and gone in about 30 minutes. The service was great and fast. After I ate I spent a lot of time listening to the live music.
