“Tje place doesn't look like much on the outside, but if you want some amazing food, this is the place. Delicious food at great prices, and very friendly staff. I can't wait for my next trip to southwestern Tennessee so I can go there again.”
“Very nice quite laid back atmosphere. Top notch Beers of many kinds, local brews from Memphis and Jackson TN or regular Beer on hand also. The salads, wood fired pizzas, smoked wings, BBQ nachos and delicious small desserts/ice creams are awesome, very much worth any wait while you enjoy the atmosphere of the small town world. The service is good and a very busy place, sometimes they sell out of the most astonishing items so stopping in early is what we have learned plus beats the crowd. Large enough area for groups of 10 or more great gathering place for inside or outside dinning. Highly recommend!!!!”
“Amazing food! Female BBQ pit master. The Helen's Special with pulled pork and bologna was so good. Like nothing you've ever had before that was affiliated with baloney! Add the slaw and prepare to get good and messy!”
“The food was amazing and was served in perfect timing. We had just enough time between each course to let the previous one settle. I believe our server's name was Garrison and he was just amazing and stayed on top of checking on us, but without being bothersome. Great food, great service, and great atmosphere.”
“Amazing service, friendly staff, and the BEST loaded teas! Bloodberry is an exclusive flavor and so good! Not sure what to get, tell them your favorite flavors and they’ll fix one up for you. Do yourself a favor and give them a try.”
“Absolutely one of the best places in Brownsville for a home cooked, meat and three lunch. I would recommend anyone traveling through the area to stop through and have lunch.”
“We have been eating at the Somerville location for years and were happy to find it here in Brownsville when we moved here recently. Same food and some of the same people we already knew. Great find.”
“So we are from Nanticoke PA stopped through and this place had a pool tournament going on our waitress was so nice and attentive and our food especially the wings delicious ?”
“4.6 Star rating and right off I-40 and 60 Exit. The food was really good.I had Catfish and Darlene had the Buger. Now next is Grandma's recipe the Carmel cake.”
“Catfish was out of this world. Man definitely takes pride in his craft. If I'm I've ever in the neighborhood again I know where I will be getting dinner.”
“I really enjoyed the atmosphere there. It was peaceful and the server was very polite and nice. However, I really didn't enjoyed the food due to refried beans were luke warm and a lil watery looking and tasty. The rest of my food was nice and hot and taste good but I have had better but overall is was a good hot meal and wonderful environment. It was very nice and clean as well. I will give it another chance another day and order something different to see how it turns out.”
“My first visit was back in the 40's and every time we would go to Memphis this was our stop over. Rated the Graddaddy of Bar-b-que in the Nation. Last time I was there we stopped to have lunch on the way to Memphis to deliver our Pet Mountain Lion to the Zoo. Had him in the trunk...”
“Visited the franchise location in downtown Austin, TX in November 2023 and the Marietta location in Georgia during the summer of 2023.After I read the story, I needed to visit the original location! As a culinary journalist, these are my favorite types of restaurants to document, I love a mom and pop generational establishment. It was a pleasure to meet the granddaughter of the original owners, Gus and Gertrude. She was pleasant and helpful in picking the perfect meal for our family. We went with the 8pc family meal - came with 2 breast, 2 wings. 2 thighs and 2 drumsticks with baked beans, cole slaw and fried green tomatoes. She forewarned us that the flavors are not the same as the franchise flavors. I was a bit scared as I highly enjoyed what I had in Austin. It was such a happy surprise that the chicken here was even better! The skin is much spicier, and the meat was just as juicy. The cole slaw was my favorite side, with the baked beans following and the fried green tomatoes coming in 3rd place. If you enjoy fried chicken, I would definitely recommend a stop at this tried and true TN state staple! Worth the drive and 20min + wait for this legendary chicken!”
“I loved the relaxed feel and fun vibe of this bar and restaurant. For Halloween, it was decorated with frightful fun. Loved it! The food was good and the beer was ice cold served in a frosty mug. They know how to do it. This is where I want to drink beer! Get the cheese curds. I am still thinking about them. The service was excellent, and they were gracious to accommodate our large party when we called late in the day to make a reservation. I will definitely be back. They have many regulars and it's easy to see why.Parking: Parking on site. Drive thru covered area by the door so you can let passengers out if it's rainingKid-friendliness: Welcoming to children. Kid's menu with food that's just as delicious as the rest of the menu.”
“I love this place! Unlike many of the restaurants in Haywood county, I have rarely ever gotten attitude from any of the staff here . The Resturant is always clean. They are always working. I just love the two sweet managers. Food is always hot and just like you order it! I would give them a 14 on a 1-10 scale! Keep up the good work guys !!!!”
