“Excellent soul food served with love! Darilyn and her family are amicable hosts, and the food is delicious! Heavenly Choices is my go-to for special events and catering featuring soul food. When I ran for public office in 2019, Heavenly Choices prepared meals for my campaign workers, and they loved it. Recently, I bought a sheet cake of Darilyn's German Butter Cake for a tour group from Rice University, and they loved it! My latest Sunday-after-church plate from Heavenly Choices included swai fish, okra, and blackeyed peas with a side of cornbread. I also bought a side of spaghetti and a warm slice of German Butter cake for my meal the following day. Suffice it to say, everything was delicious, even on the second day. If soul food served with love is what you are looking for, Heavenly Choices is the perfect place to go!“

“I needed a truly unique cake for my husband's surprise 50th birthday bash. Crafting the perfect centerpiece was crucial for capturing the essence of the event, especially since we hadn't followed traditional cake routes like wedding or groom's cakes before. Despite being in California while organizing the celebration in Houston, I turned to social media to find culinary artists. Luckily, I stumbled upon Nafise's Instagram (@leyanasugarstudio). I shared my inspiration and non-negotiables, then entrusted her with carte blanche to unleash her artistic talent. It was the best decision! The resulting cake was absolutely phenomenal. “Tammy's cakes are so good! We LOVED the Texas Melon flavor and decided to order it for our wedding due to its unique and amazing taste. However, we were somewhat disappointed that the cake didn't entirely consist of the Texas Melon flavor as we had ordered. While the cake was still delicious, some layers deviated from the Texas Melon. Upon reaching out, Tammy promptly acknowledged the error and refunded us $100, adhering to their contract's limitation on refunds. She also generously offered a free cake for one of our future birthdays or celebrations to make amends. Despite the deviation from our initial order, Tammy's acknowledgment of the mistake and efforts to remedy it were commendable. We wholeheartedly recommend Cakes by Tammy Allen!“

“I wanted to get a donut cake for a birthday party. I came strolling into Ms. Myrtle’s right under 3 day minimum cut off. The super amazing Kendra looked at me and let me know I’m lucky I came in. She took mercy on me and let me order the cake. Even gave me a Juneteenth discount.

Fast forward a few days later, I had a beautiful donut cake. The birthday girl and guests loved it! I’m such a fan of wonderful customer service. Even a bigger fan of wonderful customer service with delicious cake to back it up!“

“These are by far the best cupcakes in Houston! First of all the shop is adorable and the people are always so nice! Now for the cupcakes! I am a chocolate girl so two of my favorites are chocolate base. They are soft and moist and melt in your mouth. My top favorite is the chocolate vanilla bean. The chocolate cake is so luscious and the thin topping of silky vanilla butter cream melts in your mouth. The real star of this cupcake is that they take the icing and smoosh it into light blue sugar crystals! This gives the cupcake that added sweetness and texture. It’s just so good!!!!!!!! This is a must try! My second favorite is the strawberry truffle! Who doesn’t love strawberry and chocolate? This cupcake is the perfect combination. The luscious chocolate cake topped with fresh strawberry buttercream. You can see the pieces of real strawberries in the icing! I also highly recommend trying their daily fun flavors. Recently we had the bananas foster( so incredible , filled with a Carmel and topped with a piece of dried banana ) and the lemon blueberry pie( so refreshing and comforting) Seriously you will not be disappointed if you try these cupcakes! We drive all the way from spring to get them!“

“I want to shout out to Memorial Bakery I had an absolute awful week last week, I have a newborn, work has been stressful, school registration has been a pain, planning my kids 3rd birthday and allll the lovely hormooonnes! I ordered a cake for my twins 3rd birthday (this is the first year we did a cake, we usually do watermelon with a frosting) I lost track of the week and forgot to pay my deposit to confirm my order. I initially went for a coupon I had and got the red velvet & lemon raspberry. Upon opening the bag at home I had a red velvet and classic vanilla.

While I wasn’t too thrilled I went back with the vanilla to exchange for the lemon raspberry and upon entering the store and explaining what happened, to who I believe was the manager, I showed my receipt and got my bunt cake but still got to keep the vanilla!

“I happened to be in the area- craving a treat. I stopped in and purchased two items- a pecan maple cookie and a lemon cloud. That cookie was delicious! I took a little bite before heading home, and it was all I could do to not eat the entire thing on the way home! I took a bite of the lemon cloud, and it is like an old school lemon square and lemon meringue pie combo. Can’t wait to finish both!“

Lindsey was so sweet and helped us find just the right cake and helped customize it to my daughter liking. We were trying to decide on a cake flavor and she graciously allowed us to try the red velvet cupcake to see if that was the flavor my daughter liked. It was an absolutely amazing experience and relived this mamas stress!
We have also ordered custom Taylor swift cookies in the past thay were not only beautifully decorated but delicious!

We wanted the strawberry crunch but they were out by the time we got there so they recommended another strawberry cake and omg 🤌🏽🤤 the banana pudding was alright but by far the best cake I’ve had in a LONG time. We went in at 1130pm and wait time was maybe 3 minutes after placing. Atmosphere is really cute and comfortable as well.“
