“Excellent! There are many great restaurants in Houston, but few offer truly original dishes without trying too hard. Riel finds the right balance. All dishes were original but so tasty and well presented. This is on my Houston short list. A few comments, not negative but for consideration. - The menu is relatively limited, but offset by the fact that every dish we tried (which were many) were outstanding. - Several of the dishes were pretty spicy which was perfect for my taste, but may not be for everyone. - Concerning the staff. They were efficient and courteous, but I really don't like being served by women with big rings in their noses.“

“04/13/2024I just had lunch at Squabble.First off we got seated in Julian’s section per our request of seating in a booth. (2 of us)Julian is new to the floor as a few weeks ago after being a Bar back there.I must say this young man was nothing short of impressing me.He was funny and extremely knowledgeable of the menu and could definitely pick up the vibe of the table he was working on ( ours). The menu ; if you aren’t familiar with it; needs some details given the sophistication of what it offers andthis is where Julian shined. The rest of the staff was also very attentive. It is amazing to get such food quality and service at a reasonable price.Just an amazing experience I wanted to share. And I’m a snob..“

“During the last ten years there has been a lot of changes in the Rice Village but unfortunately not for the good! However Salento Bistrot remains one of the shining stars of the Rice Village! I have been in and out of this nice restaurant for about 18 years. The food is delicious and the selection of wines is more than just decent. I love the beautiful atmosphere with nice music and the staff is always helpful. I need to add that the staff is bilingual and courteous. My last experience confirmed me that this is one of the few places I feel confortable to eat in the Rice Village. The prices are moderate and for the quality of the food is worth it. Please try the delicious paella and do not miss the flavorful sangria. They also have a patio but I prefer to eat inside. In my last visit I didn't eat dessert because apparently they're not offering the traditional "torta de Santiago" (used to be my favorite ).“

“What a lovely patio! The restaurant has many of drink options bar and bottles. The details on the plates and restaurant are endearing. We mainly came here for the crème brûlée. I like how their menu changes with the seasons. I can't wait to come back and try this place again. We had a wonderful first experience. We did want a Matcha latte which they did not have they just have the basic coffee and tea bag options. They do not have specialty milks like oat milk or almond milk for the coffee. Overall, we had a wonderful time and our server was very attentive.Kid-friendliness: They offered a high chair“

The staff is friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable. We have never had a bad experience with service. The food itself is to die for; large portions of authentic dishes and fresh bread that absolutely will have you trying not to ruin your meal via scarfing it down. I’ve had anything from seafood pasta to the catch of the day and have never been disappointed. I’ve been in after athletic competitions and had the same service as when I’m fully formally dressed up.“
