Matt's El Rancho Reviews
Horrible experience. Severely overpriced. Pastor quesadilla was like eating leather and gristle/fat. Waitress was very rude. No separate checks. Margaritas and cheese dip were the only saving grace. No thanks. Never again.
Do not go here if you have a service animal! The manager was extremely rude and we were harassed with questions. He made me cry and we felt uncomfortable so we left. We will never be back here again.
20+ years of great service and the staff making us feel like family. Traditions are important and Matt’s is one of ours.

Matt's El Rancho is a family-friendly restaurant that accommodates large parties with efficient and friendly service. For 38 years, customers have enjoyed consistently delicious food, with standout dishes like the non-battered Chili Shrimp Relleño with tomatillo sauce and the famous Bob Armstrong Dip, which is described as queso but at another level. The staff, known for their long tenure, ensures that everyone has a great experience, and the praline at the end of the meal is a sweet treat. The restaurant is praised for its fantastic Tex-Mex food, including the tasty tacos Al Capone with queso, enchiladas, and flautas, all served in a cool setting with a nice buzzing atmosphere. Guests love the full-flavor dishes, such as Asadero, Al Pastor, and Fish Tacos, along with the grilled quail finished in a personal cast iron skillet. The tortilla soup is loaded with chicken and not too spicy. Matt's El Rancho remains a classic Austin establishment that handles the city's busy crowds with elegance, providing great value for money and a dining experience worth visiting time and again.
