“Drove from Round Rock to meet up with family and get some get BBQ. It was our first visit but don't be our last! We arrived before the rest of our group and had a great conversation with the owner while we waited. He was extremely welcoming and friendly. I had the sausage and brisket with coleslaw and pinto beans...all very delicious. The prices are VERY reasonable, especially for BBQ. It's a simple and humble locale, but clean and hospitable. Definitely a great place to take the family, and was with the drive.”

“Slovaceks has decent baked goods. Sausage is good. Beware of brisket (ask for it to be trimmed well of fat). Good selection of highway rest stop commercial items of many types. Good place to stop before hitting the Waco area if you are Southbound on I-35.”

“While traveling through the area, we found ourselves at Dave’s Burger Barn. We love to eat at local restaurants instead of the chain places. When we walked it, I was impressed with how clean it was. We went around 5 pm so there was only one other family there. I was surprised and discouraged that we weren’t greeted by staff when we walked in. Our burgers were excellent but the lack of friendliness of the staff will run a small business into the ground.”

“Stopped in and had 3 tacos, corn in a cup, and a bottled Coke. All the tacos were great (asada, carnitas, chicharron) and corn was not watery or dry. Area was clean and lighting was great as the sun had already set. I ordered and was given a buzzer that went off when my order was ready. Will definitely visit again when I'm in the area.”

“What can I say? This place was great. They have excellent variety of tortas in the bread is made on site. This thing was a good size. I normally can eat the whole thing but about 3/4 of the way I was stuffed ready to roll on home. Owner is very nice With great service tortas are big come with an appetite you will not be disappointed”

“I didn't have food on this visit. I didn't realize they stopped cooking at a certain hour and is a bar after the cooking hours. My drinks were good and chilled. Not to pricey like a lot of places. Bar tender was polite and friendly. He also made frequent rounds around the room to check on the customers. His waitress was nice and hard working as well. There was a small crowd with upbeat spirits , not too loud. Just laughing and having a good time listening to music and joking around. Couldn't ask for a better atmosphere whether alone or in a group. Place was very clean.As for the 5 stars for the food, it's because my drinks were good. I happen to know from a couple of past visits that the food is great! Would highly recommend this place. It's well worth going out of your way to dine at this small time establishment.”

“We were on our way from San Antonio to Fort Worth and in the mood for BBQ for lunch. Looked up on Google Maps a place for good BBQ on our route. We originally thought we’d stop at Buc-ee’s for a quick sandwich, so glad we decided to try somewhere else.We ordered the two meat plates each. Both of us got the ribs and one got the brisket and the other got the sausage. Side orders were the beans, potato salad and cooked cabbage. All three sides were over the top delicious.The meat was smoked excellent. Love when the meat falls off the bone. The BBQ sauce was phenomenal.Nabota “Bot” Hilliard & Drea we’re the most pleasant folks and helped us with our decisions to satisfy our taste.Highly recommend Hillard BBQ. It was the best choice we could’ve made.”

It’s more of a pick-up food place rather than a stay-and-eat place.Their strong suit is their chicken package with 1 whole chicken, rice, charro beans, tortillas, grilled onion, and salsas all for $20. It feeds about 4 grown hungry men and it’s a good deal. It is ready in about 3 minutes.The chicken has a good flavor of being grilled over coal. The rice is decent. The charro beans have good flavor. The salsas are good but the green one is especially good.The taqueria has a wide range of food. They also have a rib package which is a bit pricier than the chicken but still good and tender. The pupusas are good and made on the spot so it has a bit of wait time. Their fresh waters are good and huge. Their tamales are good sized if a bit lacking in taste.There is ample parking and wheelchair accessible.Try this place it’s really good, with a wide selection, and reasonably priced.”
