“Stopped here on our way home from New Mexico, and it was great! Love supporting a small local business vs. a national chain. Everything was fresh and delicious, and made to order. The burger patties were, thick, juicy, and well-seasoned. We added grilled onions & mushrooms, as well as bacon—all very good! The fries were fresh-cut and delicious, and the onion rings were great too. Will definitely stop again when we drive through Brady!”

“Great food, great service and terrific value. We will definitely be back! Hubs had the catfish special and I had the chicken fried steak special. Both were delicious and way more than enough food. I do recommend getting there early. The place starts filling up around 11:30.”

“Nice spot in a quiet part of town. I went for brunch a few times and enjoyed the food. Friendly staff. Family Feud came on the TV and some folks would chime in with an expected answer. It made for a rather interesting conversation.”

“With all the BBQ joints in town, I was craving vegetables so I ordered the bean curd and vegetables as well as a veggie spring roll. It was cooked perfectly - not over-cooked and not oily. I picked mine up to go but the inside looked very clean. I will definitely eat here again.”

“I stayed for 9 nights at the TruCountry Inn. It was suggested to me by a local person to check out Barney’s. I am sure glad that I did. The barista, Jeanne, was super professional! She was out going and very easy to talk to. After I tasted the coffee that she brewed, along with a warm fresh baked cinnamon, I got hooked immediately. “Sue Ellen and I eat at Cattleman's BBQ almost every week. I recommend it wholeheartedly. I have eaten a lot of barbecue in my life, all over Texas and in other states as well. Cattleman's makes a traditional Texas barbecue that is outstanding. The meat is from cattle that have been raised and processed locally. Mesquite--and only mesquite--is used in the smoker, which give the barbecue its distinctive flavor. The excellent barbecue sauce is balanced, Texas-traditional style -- some spice without being too hot, so that the smoked meat flavor is enhanced rather than covered up. Cattleman's sauce has enough sweet to keep it from tasting like a pepper sauce, but not so much that it is syrupy sweet. The chicken fried steak likewise is excellent, with flavorful, large steaks and not too much breading. It's very much like the chicken fried steak my own mother and grandmother made. The desserts vary from week to week, but they are always excellent and made from scratch. The banana pudding is old-school, from scratch, so be sure to order it when it's available.”
