Hometown Seafood Padre Island offers very good, hot, and fresh food, with dishes like the Shrimp & Oyster combo, catfish and shrimp, drunken shrimp, and fondue fries noted as amazing or delicious. The shrimp are large, and they will expertly cook customer-caught fish. Most items are reasonably priced, with happy hour specials available, and a military discount is offered. The restaurant has a fantastic, world-class service team described as the best, with incredibly friendly, attentive, and accommodating wait staff who provide amazing customer service vibes. Live music, some of the best around town, is featured, though it can be too loud for conversation. A note for diners is that coleslaw is not available. While most food receives high praise, one specific dish, the chicken fried chicken, has been found to be very dry with a surprisingly small portion. Overall, the spot provides a great and enjoyable experience with everything described as perfect, aside from that one particular plate.
